Job Summary
The Director, Investment Portfolio Analytics will lead F&G's investment data strategy and modernization efforts, focusing on data warehouse optimization, strategic data architecture, and analytics generation to support investment decisions and actuarial planning. This role combines data expertise with business acumen to transform how investment data is collected, stored, and utilized across the organization. The position involves managing investment data, supporting ad-hoc data requests, designing comprehensive data strategies, and supporting the data needed to generate cash flows for investments held.
Organization
The Director, Investment Portfolio Analytics reports to the VP, Investment Portfolio Analytics and will oversee a team of analysts. There will be significant interaction with investment strategy, investment risk, investment accounting, actuarial, middle office, treasury, and technology teams, as well as key members of external asset managers serving the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Modernization
- Lead investment data warehouse modernization initiatives to improve data accessibility, quality, and processing efficiency
- Design and implement comprehensive investment data strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements
- Evaluate and recommend data architecture improvements to support scalable analytics and reporting
- Drive automation of existing data processes and integration across various investment systems
Data Management & Analytics
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of the internal reporting database to support comprehensive investment analytics and decision-making
- Manage and fulfill ad-hoc data requests from internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
- Support cash flow generation processes including review of data and execution of controls that are intended to validate the reasonableness of the cash flows generated
- Detect and correct data errors in investment tools and interface with other investment-related data owners to ensure consistency across platforms (e.g., BlackRock Aladdin and Clearwater)
Team Leadership
- Provide guidance, feedback, coaching, and performance reviews to direct reports
- Foster a data-driven culture
- Collaborate with technology teams on data infrastructure improvements while maintaining business focus
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, finance, data science, or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in portfolio analytics, investment data management, data warehouse operations, or related field
- CFA, FRM, CIPM, and/or CAIA designation preferred
- Prior leadership experience preferred
- Experience with data warehouse modernization projects and data strategy development
- Background in investment data analysis and cash flow modeling
- Actuarial experience a plus
- Experience with asset modeling and data analysis using Python, R, or similar programming languages a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Active engagement with AI tools and technologies to enhance data analysis capabilities and drive innovation in investment analytics
- Strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel (VBA) and SQL
- Working knowledge of Python, Tableau, and Alteryx preferred
- Experience with data warehouse technologies and ETL processes
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, and/or Clearwater preferred
- Understanding of data architecture principles and best practices
- Demonstrated understanding of fixed income analytics and investment data requirements
- Strong project management skills with experience leading data modernization initiatives
- Excellent problem-solving skills with advanced analytical and reasoning abilities
- Ability to translate business requirements into data solutions
- Experience managing and developing data-focused teams
- Strong communication skills with ability to present complex data concepts to various stakeholders
- Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and displays high energy level
- Team player with ability to collaborate across functional teams and work effectively in a small group environment

- Minimal travel required (less than 10%)
