Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Investment Advisor will provide investment-related services and investment expertise to First Abu Dhabi Bank Elite Banking clients.

The Investment Advisor will work closely with the Elite relationship managers, prospective clients and existing clients to ensure key deliverable services for the Investment Advisory business including:

  • Providing high-quality investment advice and recommendations utilizing a qualitative portfolio-based framework.
  • Generating portfolio strategies and investment ideas tailored to client’s risk profile and objectives, global market trends, and FAB in-house investment views and outlook.
  • Performing client portfolio monitoring & portfolio reviews.

As part of the role, the Investment Advisor will also be expected to confidently conduct market update sessions internally and with end-clients, as well as ensure continuous compliance with the bank’s policies & procedures.  

Key Accountabilities:

  • Providing high quality investment advisory related services to Abu Dhabi based Elite clients.
  • Jointly working with relationship managers to meet and handle existing client relationships with regards to the creation of new investment portfolios, as well as active monitoring & rebalancing of the existing ones, by conducting portfolio reviews.
  • Actively promoting investment opportunities across the full spectrum of asset classes across public and private markets in line with FAB’s investment outlook and strategy, and client’s risk profile and preferred strategy.
  • Be comfortable in performing market updates to internal & external audiences and making sure key daily market developments and their impact is understood and can be explained.
  • Contributing to the Elite business financial budget, including investment sales and revenue targets, under a strict qualitative framework.
  • Ensure full time compliance with the policies and procedures, rules and regulations of the advisory business, FAB, and external regulatory framework.
  • Coordinating and facilitating internal trainings on investment related subjects where required
  • Actively sourcing internally new product ideas based on market trends, relationship manager and client feedback.
  • Working on various investment advisory related projects targeted to enhance the infrastructure and the operational workflow of the advisory business and implementing changes that drive the investment advisory service level forward and to the next level.
  • Participating in all operational matters related to the Investment Advisory business.

Qualifications

Job knowledge, skills & experience:

  • At least 5 years of work experience in a similar environment.
  • In-depth knowledge & understanding of global financial markets, macroeconomic trends and political/economic developments.
  • In-depth knowledge & understanding of investment products (equities, bonds, mutual funds, structured notes, private equity, private credit and other alternatives, etc.)
  • Can-do attitude with the ability to operate independently under tight deadlines and effectively manage multiple tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Team player who is able to influence decision makers and works extremely well in building strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders including relationship managers, area managers / team leaders, end-clients, team subordinates, peers and superiors.
  • Possess strong communication skills and attention to details.
  • Fluent in English. Arabic or other languages (e.g. Russian) are highly appreciated.

Academic/Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance or a related field.
  • CFA or Master’s Degree in Finance/Economics is required
