About the Role:

We’re looking for a Director of Internal Communications – Operations to lead communications for our Operations organization, which includes facilities, quality & safety, customer experience, and pharmaceutical operations. In this role, you’ll partner closely with Operations leads and HR to develop and deliver communications that bring clarity, consistency, and motivation to employees. You’ll also collaborate with our External Communications team to tell the story of our world-class Operations capabilities as we scale.

This role will focus both on our on-site employee and remote Operations employee audiences, creating consistent messaging that unifies the function.

This is an individual contributor role for someone who loves to roll up their sleeves, develop strategy, and execute day-to-day communications with excellence. The ideal candidate for this role thrives in a fast-moving, high-impact environment, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, and holds themselves to a high standard.

You Will:
  • Build & Lead Communications Strategy: Develop and execute an integrated internal communications strategy for the Operations organization that translates complex operational initiatives, reinforces business goals, highlights impact, and strengthens employee connection to our mission.

  • Support Executive Voice: Support the Chief Operations Officer on internal-facing communications, including org updates, leadership messages, town halls, and other high-visibility touchpoints.

  • Partner Across Functions: Work closely with Operations leaders and the People/HR team to ensure messaging is aligned, effective, and employee-centered. You’ll also partner with our external Communications team to help shape external storytelling about our Operations capabilities and innovations as the company scales.

  • Leverage AI & Data for Impact: Use AI tools to streamline workflows, generate insights, and optimize communication delivery — and apply data to measure engagement, identify trends, and continuously refine strategies.

  • Deliver Impactful Content: Draft and edit communications such as announcements, leadership messages, HR communications, FAQs, and intranet content that reinforce transparency and trust.

  • Create & Manage Processes: Establish structures for how Operations communicates across internal channels (Slack, email, intranet, live forums), ensuring consistency, clarity, and timeliness.

You Have:
  • Minimum 10+ years of internal communications experience, with significant experience in Operations-focused communications.

  • A proven ability to shape communications for on-site operational environments such as distribution centers or warehouses.

  • Proven track record of partnering with HR/People teams to develop and execute communications that translate HR initiatives into clear and engaging messaging.

  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to optimize communications, drive efficiencies, and innovate workflows.

  • Proven ability to apply data and analytics to measure communications effectiveness, inform decisions, and demonstrate impact.

  • Healthcare communications experience (preferred, but not required).

  • Track record of supporting senior executives with internal messaging and storytelling.

  • Strong editorial judgment and exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and strike the right tone for varied audiences.

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth, remote-first environment, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • A proactive, independent working style: you anticipate needs, build solutions, and deliver high-quality work with minimal direction.

  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience building trust and alignment across leadership teams and cross-functional partners.

Our Benefits (there are more but here are some highlights):
  • Competitive salary & equity compensation for full-time roles

  • Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and quarterly mental health days

  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental & vision, and parental leave

  • Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)

  • 401k benefits with employer matching contribution

  • Offsite team retreats

We are committed to building a workforce that reflects diverse perspectives and prioritizes ethics, wellness, and a strong sense of belonging. If you're excited about this role, we encourage you to apply—even if you're not sure if your background or experience is a perfect match.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
