About This Role:

We are seeking an accomplished and motivated scientific leader to join our Immunobiology Research Group as a Director. This role is ideal for a senior leader with a strong track record in immunology drug discovery, including advancing drug candidates into the clinic. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment and is passionate about mentoring teams and shaping strategic direction.

You will play a critical role in driving the scientific and strategic vision of the group, leading cross-functional research initiatives, and managing a portfolio of internal and external discovery programs. Your leadership will be instrumental in identifying and validating novel therapeutic targets, guiding candidate molecules toward clinical development, and fostering a culture of innovation and scientific excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and scientific direction for immunology research programs, from target identification through candidate nomination.

  • Lead and mentor a team of scientists, fostering professional growth and scientific rigor.

  • Manage cross-functional project teams, ensuring alignment across research, translational, and development functions.

  • Drive portfolio prioritization and resource allocation in collaboration with senior leadership.

  • Identify, evaluate, and manage external collaborations, including academic and industry partnerships.

  • Represent the immunology group in internal governance forums and external scientific meetings.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends and technologies in immunology and integrate them into the group’s strategy.

  • Ensure high-quality scientific output and effective communication across teams and stakeholders.

Who You Are:

You are a strategic thinker and collaborative leader with deep expertise in immunology and a strong background in drug discovery. You are passionate about mentoring scientists, building high-performing teams, and translating cutting-edge science into impactful therapies. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are motivated by the opportunity to shape the future of immunology research.

This position is based in Cambridge, MA and requires regular onsite presence. Candidates must be within commutable distance or able to self-relocate to be considered.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or MS (PhD preferred) in Immunology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, or a related field.

  • 12+ years of industry experience in immunology drug discovery, including leadership roles.

  • Proven success in leading programs that have advanced candidate molecules into clinical development.

  • Deep understanding of immune mechanisms in inflammation and autoimmunity.

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and mentoring scientists at various career stages.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage external collaborations.

  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in both small molecule and biologics drug discovery.

  • Familiarity with multiomics approaches and translational research.

  • Prior experience in portfolio management and strategic planning.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $200,000.00-$275,000.00


Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
