About us

Scientific Safety Alliance (SSA) exists to Accelerate Science. Delightfully. SSA is growing at an exceptional rate and continues rising on Inc. Magazine’s list of fastest-growing privately held companies. In just over three years, SSA has scaled rapidly through 24 acquisitions, creating a highly dynamic, operating environment.

Who do we serve? We serve the life sciences world including pharmaceutical, biotech, hospital, and research facilities by removing operational friction so innovation can move faster. SSA is 100% founder- and employee-owned. Ownership is real here. Performance directly compounds enterprise value for every team member.

As we scale toward our next phase of growth, we are building one of the top 1% People platforms in our industry, with HR Operations at the center. This requires a scalable, compliant, and highly efficient infrastructure across payroll, benefits, onboarding, and M&A integration that can support rapid expansion without breaking

The Opportunity: Director of HR Operations

We are looking for a Director of HR Operations to build and scale a world-class HR infrastructure that keeps pace with a high-growth, acquisition-driven organization.

This is not a maintenance role. This person will own the backbone of the People function, ensuring payroll, benefits, compliance, onboarding, and integrations run with precision, speed, and scalability.

You will be responsible for turning HR Operations into a competitive advantage.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Own Payroll & Benefits Execution - Ensure accurate, timely, and scalable payroll across all entities (domestic and global). Optimize benefits administration for cost efficiency and employee experience. Build systems that eliminate errors and manual work
  • Drive HR Compliance (Domestic & Global) - Own all HR-related compliance, policies, and filings across jurisdictions. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and international labor laws. Proactively mitigate risk as we expand into new geographies
  • Build Scalable Onboarding & Offboarding - Create a seamless onboarding experience that accelerates time-to-productivity. Standardize offboarding processes to reduce risk and maintain compliance. Implement systems that ensure consistency across all locations
  • Lead HR Integration for M&A - Own HR workstreams for all acquisitions (due diligence through integration). Standardize processes across acquired companies while maintaining speed. Ensure clean transitions across payroll, benefits, compliance, and systems
  • Systematize HR Operations - Build and optimize HR systems, workflows, and documentation (Talent Ops Hub, SOPs, etc.). Drive automation and process efficiency across all HR functions. Establish KPIs and dashboards to measure operational performance
  • Partner Cross-Functionally - Work closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, M&A and Talent Acquisition to ensure alignment. Support leadership with data, insights, and operational guidance. Enable hiring managers with clear, simple, and scalable processes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience leading HR Operations in a high-growth environment (preferably PE-backed or acquisition-heavy)
  • Deep expertise in payroll, benefits, and HR compliance (multi-state required, global preferred)
  • Experience integrating multiple acquisitions and standardizing processes across entities
  • Strong systems mindset (HRIS, automation, process design)
  • Ability to operate with urgency and precision in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • High attention to detail with a bias toward execution
  • Strong business acumen and ability to partner with executive leadership

Benefits

  • Equity ownership in SSA
  • 401k Match
  • 100% paid Dental & Vision insurance
  • Health insurance (100% for employee and family)
  • Life insurance
  • Generous Paid time off
  • Parental leave

If you have the skills we are looking for and want to be a part of the Rocketship we are building, we want to hear from you!!
