The Director, Growth is a new role designed to accelerate Mediavine's strategic shift toward curated demand and private marketplace (PMP) growth, moving beyond the open exchange. This role will identify and scale revenue-driving opportunities across DSP and SSP curation programs, one-to-many partnerships, and marketplace innovation.

Reporting to the VP of Data Strategy & Partnerships, the Director, Growth will work cross-functionally with the SVP of Operations, VP of Product, VP of Advertising Solutions, and teams across Operations, Revenue, and Buyer Development to build a scalable, differentiated demand strategy that drives net new spend and marketplace share shift.

This role will lead curator relationship development, ensure Mediavine has optimal visibility in premium marketplace placements, and originate new partnership opportunities that support monetization and publisher growth goals. In addition to internal execution, this role will represent Mediavine externally through industry engagement and thought leadership.

Compensation for this role will be directly tied to measurable marketplace performance, including increased curated spend and share shift away from Open Exchange channels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Curation and PMP Strategy: Develop and execute Mediavine's strategy for curated demand and private marketplaces (PMPs), ensuring alignment with publisher value, buyer intent, and platform capabilities.
  • Expand Curator & Platform Partnerships: Build and nurture direct relationships with Curators, DSPs, and SSPs to unlock scaled, differentiated access to curated buying channels.
  • Drive Demand Growth: Identify and activate high-growth opportunities across curation marketplaces, PMPs, and bespoke programmatic solutions to increase total spend and share shift from the open exchange.
  • Partnership Origination & Acceleration: Manage new monetization partners' discovery, assessment, and onboarding and facilitate internal handoffs to operational and commercial leads.
  • Collaborate Across Commercial Ecosystem: Serve as a strategic partner to cross-functional teams (Advertising Solutions, Data Strategy, Buyer Development, Operations, and Product) to accelerate demand-side innovation and execution.
  • Marketplace Intelligence: Stay ahead of trends and developments in the programmatic landscape to ensure Mediavine maintains leadership in curated and premium demand channels.
  • Represent Mediavine Externally: Act as a public-facing executive at key industry events (e.g., CES, POSSIBLE, IAB ALM, NYC events), promoting Mediavine's leadership in curation and innovation.
  • Thought Leadership: Contribute to the company's voice in the industry through speaking engagements, authored content, and collaboration with marketing and comms teams.
  • Performance Accountability: Own KPIs related to increased demand spend through curated sources, reduced reliance on the open exchange, and shift in demand channel mix. Compensation is tied directly to performance against these benchmarks.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in digital advertising, with a proven track record in programmatic growth, demand partnerships, or business development.
  • Deep expertise in SSP and DSP platforms, curation models, PMP structures, and the evolving dynamics between supply and demand.
  • Strong network of relationships across curators, demand-side platforms, and programmatic buyers.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives across product, partnerships, commercial, and operational teams.
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills; comfortable representing the company externally and crafting narratives for internal stakeholders.
  • Experience shifting demand strategy from open exchange to curated environments, with measurable results.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, business development capabilities, and data-informed decision making.
  • High EQ and collaboration mindset; thrives in fast-paced, matrix environments.
  • Willingness to travel for partner meetings, industry events, and internal collaboration.

Benefits

  • 100% remote
  • Comprehensive benefits including Health, Dental, Vision and 401k match
  • Generous paid time off
  • Wellness and Home Office Perks
  • Up to 12 weeks of paid Parental Leave
  • Inclusive Family Forming Benefits
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Travel opportunities for teams, our annual All Hands retreat as well as industry event

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
