About the Role

We're hiring a Director of Solutions Engineering to lead and scale a high-impact SE function — owning technical pre-sales strategy and execution, improving conversion and time-to-value across the sales cycle, and building durable operating rhythms with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success. This leader is equal parts player/coach, process builder, and customer-facing technical executive.

What You'll Do
  • Hire, coach, and develop SEs while setting a high bar for discovery, solution design, demos, and executive communication.

  • Define role expectations, career paths, onboarding, enablement, and performance management.

  • Partner with AEs and leadership on account strategy, technical qualification, and deal orchestration.

  • Standardize PointFive's technical evaluation motion (discovery → POC design → validation → close), including templates, success criteria, and executive readouts.

  • Drive rigor around pre-integration readiness, technical stakeholders, security/risk steps, and environment setup for a repeatable POC and integration motion.

  • Implement a feedback loop where SEs capture product gaps and turn real-world proof points into product input.

  • Present to technical and executive stakeholders; lead architecture discussions, security reviews, and ROI/value articulation.

What We're Looking ForMust-have
  • Fluency in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), the DevOps landscape, and enterprise cost management.

  • Ability to lead deep-dive architectural discussions, troubleshoot integration challenges (APIs, data pipelines, security configurations), and drive technical success for large-scale enterprise deployments.

  • 6–12+ years in Solutions Engineering / Sales Engineering (or equivalent), with 3–6+ years leading teams.

  • Proven track record building and scaling pre-sales motions (discovery, demos, POCs, security reviews) that translate technical insight into quantifiable business value.

  • Demonstrated ability to partner tightly with sales leadership, owning and improving conversion metrics from technical validation to close.

  • Extensive experience with enterprise customers, navigating multi-stakeholder evaluations and requirements.

Nice to have
  • FinOps / cloud cost optimization domain experience.

  • Prior experience building enablement programs and presales analytics (win/loss, stage conversion, cycle time, etc.).

  • Experience managing global teams and working with global customers.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary Range: $198,800 – $243,600

  • Competitive OTE range: $284,000 – $348,000 with uncapped commission, plus equity

  • Health, dental, vision (yes, all three!), equity in something early-stage and exciting, generous PTO, 401K, meal & commuter benefits, and a team that will actually challenge you.

Why PointFive
  • Founders with a track record — Built and sold IntSights to Rapid7. Backed by top-tier investors with deep conviction in this category.

  • Category-defining product — DeepWaste detection and agentic remediation with clear, measurable ROI for both engineering and finance teams.

  • Early-stage leverage — Your work directly shapes the product, the culture, and the go-to-market playbook.

  • Build the function from scratch — you'll design the SE operating system (playbooks, scorecards, enablement) that shapes how PointFive sells technical value at scale.
