A privately owned commercial real estate investment and development company that has been building and managing properties for over 30 years is seeking a Director of Finance to help shape and lead the finance function for its growing portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to step into a highly visible role where you'll partner directly with executive leadership and help build processes, structure, and best practices from the ground up as you help them create a solid real estate division within a scaling multi-entity company.

What You'll Own

  • Oversee accounting operations across multiple real estate entities
  • Manage property accounting, property taxes, and insurance activities
  • Lead CAM reconciliations across the portfolio
  • Handle construction accounting for three active developments, including a major mixed-use "live/work/play" project currently underway
  • Develop and manage WIP reporting, lien releases, and asset component tracking processes
  • Build accounting workflows, SOPs, and financial controls for the real estate division
  • Partner closely with the SVP of Asset Management to help establish and scale the finance function
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 2–3 accounting professionals
  • Introduce new ideas, efficiencies, and best practices to strengthen the organization
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across all entities
  • Utilize Yardi to manage accounting and property-related functions

Qualifications

✔ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field- REQUIRED

✔ Commercial real estate accounting experience

✔ 5+ years of accounting experience including LEADERSHIP 

✔ Experience with CAM reconciliations and job costing

✔ Hands-on experience with Yardi

✔ Experience building, leading, and developing small teams

✔ Strong process improvement mindset and ability to implement best practices
