Workiva is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Director of Executive Recruiting to build and lead our executive talent acquisition strategy. Reporting into the VP of Talent Acquisition, you will have responsibility for our global executive recruitment strategy design and implementation.

As the Director of Executive Recruiting, you will have the unique opportunity to influence the future leadership landscape of Workiva. Your key responsibilities will include cultivating strong relationships with senior leadership to understand their executive talent needs, proactively establish relationships with executive prospects, and build strategies to attract top-tier talent. Furthermore, you will manage relationships with executive recruiting firms, ensuring we partner with the best to secure exceptional leaders. You will play a key role in ensuring that our executive hires embody the values that make Workiva a "Best Place to Work."

What You’ll Do

  • Leadership: Lead, inspire and develop your team. You will provide guidance, mentorship, and support to your team enabling their professional growth and reinforcing Workiva's collaborative and supportive culture

  • Executive Search: Lead and manage the full lifecycle of executive-level searches (Sr Dir, VP, SVP+, etc.), including strategy development, sourcing, candidate assessment, offer negotiation, and onboarding support. Ensure that the search process reflects Workiva's commitments to integrity, collaboration, and customer success

  • Strategy and Process Development: Define, implement, and continuously improve executive recruiting strategies, processes, and best practices across the company. Develop standardized interview processes, assessment methodologies, and reporting metrics that align with Workiva's commitment to fairness, transparency, and data-driven decision-making

  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with senior executives, hiring managers, and HR business partners to understand their business objectives and talent needs. Emphasize the importance of attracting leaders who not only possess the required skills but also align with Workiva's core values and contribute to our inclusive work environment

  • Influence and Collaboration: Effectively influence senior leadership on executive talent acquisition strategies, organizational design considerations, and the importance of a robust hiring process. Promote a collaborative approach to talent acquisition, ensuring alignment across the organization

  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and the executive talent landscape within the software industry. Utilize this knowledge to inform search strategies and talent pipelining efforts, ensuring Workiva remains competitive in attracting top talent

  • Employer Branding: Partner with the broader HR and Communication teams to further enhance our employer brand and position Workiva as an employer of choice for executive talent who are drawn to our mission and values

  • Data & Reporting: Track and analyze key executive recruiting metrics to provide insights, identify areas for improvement, and report on progress to leadership. Demonstrate ownership and accountability in achieving recruitment goals

  • Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external search firms and other recruitment vendors as needed, ensuring they align with Workiva's values and commitment to excellence

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, with at least the last 5 years focused specifically on executive-level recruiting within the software industry, and spanning across R&D Tech, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and G&A verticals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building an executive recruiting function or significantly improving existing processes within a growth-stage software company

  • Deep network of executive-level talent within the software industry

  • Experience utilizing data and analytics to drive recruiting decisions and measure impact

  • Familiarity with various assessment methodologies and behavioral interviewing techniques for executive roles

  • Experience with global executive recruiting

  • Proven experience directly managing and leading executive-level searches from inception to completion

  • Demonstrated success in building strong relationships and influencing senior-level executives

  • Strong understanding of executive compensation, benefits, and equity structures

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate Workiva's mission and values effectively

  • Proficiency with recruiting tools

  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a demonstrated ability to embrace innovation and change

Travel Requirement & Working Conditions

  • Up to 25% travel for regular customer meetings and events

  • Reliable internet access required for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office

How You’ll Be Rewarded

✅ Salary range in the US: $154,000.00 - $250,000.00

✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
