Lead engineering initiatives at Backcountry by overseeing the SDLC process, implementing Agile methodologies, and establishing best practices while developing product roadmaps and collaborating with stakeholders.

This role is challenging – above and beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll have a big role within a fast-paced team.
This position will report into the CTO.
What you get to do:
- Oversee the full SDLC process from planning to deployment, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Implement Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban to drive high quality deliverables
- Develop product line roadmaps with product management teams, outlining feature sets aligned with timeline expectations
- Establish engineering best practices that support collaboration, code reuse, efficiency, and scalability
- Partner with stakeholders to review SDLC progress, anticipate changes in business objectives, and identify areas for improvement
- Lead end to end user testing to ensure customer satisfaction and provide feedback on product enhancements or required adjustments
What you bring:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 10 plus years of experience in software engineering leadership
- Strong experience with software development and technology practices within e Commerce environments
- Proven ability to own architecture decisions and clearly communicate required investments and business value across the organization
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling teams, including coaching and managing performance at a leadership level
- Experience evaluating vendor software and making build versus buy decisions that balance risk, cost, and time to market
