Yahoo! Mail Backend Team develops and maintains high-performing systems that provide API (Web Services, IMAP, & POP), Metadata and Elastic Storage for the electronic mail and its auxiliary functions. The system handles billions of requests a day, and supports a variety of clients, mobile, desktop, & web. The team works on problems that cover a wide spectrum - from web services to operating system and networking layer.  We are looking for an Engineering Director to help build the next generation of the Mail Data Platform.

Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership to multiple groups of engineers in a fast-paced environment

- Drive technical excellence and implementation of best engineering practices such as design review, continuous integration and test driven development

- Coordinate with partner teams when required, help unblock teams and resolve issues across teams

Minimum Job Qualifications

- 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering management roles 

- Experience with large scale distributed systems

- Hands-on proven software engineering experience delivering services

- Experience in Java programming on Unix platforms

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Job Qualifications

- MS in Computer Science or related engineering field

The compensation for this position ranges from $160,965.00 - $349,885.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
