Director of Engineering, Lynd Clinical

Lynd Clinical is building a fully owned and operated clinical research network purpose-built for rural and community America. We partner with leading U.S. health systems and regional providers to bring clinical trials directly into the settings where patients already receive care.

Our model combines owned site infrastructure with a proprietary AI platform that analyzes longitudinal medical records to identify, screen, and enroll high-quality participants with speed and precision: driving faster enrollment and better trial outcomes for both sponsors and trial participants.

We are looking for a hands-on Director of Engineering to help lead product development, grow our engineering organization, and accelerate delivery as we scale.

This role reports directly to the CTPO and will work closely with leadership to shape architecture, roadmap priorities, engineering culture, and team growth.

How We Build

We believe exceptional engineering teams maximize leverage through modern AI-assisted development workflows.

Our engineers actively use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini, and other AI-powered development systems to accelerate software delivery, reduce repetitive work, and increase individual impact.

We value engineers who embrace new tooling, challenge conventional development practices, and continuously seek ways to improve team productivity.

What You'll Do

  • Lead day-to-day engineering execution across product and platform initiatives
  • Partner closely with the CTO on technical architecture, roadmap planning, and engineering strategy
  • Design, build, and ship production software alongside the team
  • Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing engineering organization
  • Establish engineering processes that maximize speed, quality, and accountability
  • Drive rapid iteration cycles and help the team move from idea to production quickly
  • Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate closely with partners, operators, and clinical stakeholders to translate business needs into software

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience building and shipping production software
  • Experience leading and growing engineering teams
  • Strong software architecture and system design skills
  • Ability to balance long-term technical quality with short-term product velocity
  • Strong recruiting instincts and a track record of building great teams
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfort operating in fast-moving startup environments with high ownership and ambiguity
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI-native software development and modern engineering workflows

You'll Thrive Here If You

  • Prefer shipping to debating
  • Enjoy building products alongside your team rather than managing from a distance
  • Have strong opinions but weak ego
  • Care deeply about patient outcomes
  • Get energized by ambitious goals and fast execution
  • Want to help define the future of how clinical research operates

This is a highly visible leadership role with significant influence over product direction, technical strategy, and the future growth of the engineering organization.
