Role Overview
As Director, DevOps Engineering, you translate strategy into action by leading the design and execution of scalable infrastructure and deployment systems that empower our engineering teams to deliver reliably and efficiently. You oversee day-to-day work within the DevOps team and champion long-term initiatives spanning multiple departments.
You build and mentor a high-performing team of engineers and managers, championing infrastructure as code, and CI/CD best practices. Your leadership fosters operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across DevOps systems and workflows. You partner closely with architects and platform engineering teams to scale DevOps practices and infrastructure patterns across the broader engineering organization, ensuring alignment with technical strategy and long-term platform goals.
You collaborate across data, engineering, and security teams to drive cross-functional initiatives and ensure our cloud infrastructure's performance, security, and reliability. You make decisions on tooling, budget, and resourcing, contributing to a culture that values speed, safety, and scale in delivery.

What you do each day:
- Align DevOps strategy with engineering and business priorities: Collaborate with senior engineering and product leaders to ensure DevOps initiatives directly support the organization’s technical roadmap, accelerate product delivery, and drive measurable impact on business outcomes.
- Manage planning, project work, and performance of the DevOps team with the Kanban framework
- Manage the DevOps budget, tool licensing, and vendor relationships to support team initiatives
- Ensure adherence to cloud security, compliance, and governance standards
- Advocate for DevOps practices that improve team velocity, resilience, and engineering outcomes
- Coach leaders and contributors with a keen eye for growth opportunities, leveraging candor and frequent feedback cycles
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders to plan and execute cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Drive a performance culture centered on DevOps-aligned metrics (DORA)
- Evaluate opportunities to improve tools and frameworks, leveraging best-in-class tooling, including generative AI capabilities
- Actively participate in quarterly and annual planning processes to represent DevOps needs, inform broader engineering strategy, and align priorities with customer impact and business growth.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and cloud engineering,
- 7+ years of experience in people leadership, 4+ managing managers
- Deep expertise with Amazon Web Services cloud platform, and containers/orchestration (i.e., Kubernetes, Docker)
- Expertise with CI/CD systems (i.e., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI), version control, artefact management, and complex Delivery workloads
- Proficiency in automation and scripting we use Python and GoLang)
- Strong understanding of observability stacks (i.e., Datadog) and operational monitoring, alerting, and Incident Management
- Familiarity with data engineering, OLAP/OLTP systems, and other data persistence systems (Elasticsearch, Redis, etc)
- 4+ years in compliance(SOC2, SOX, PCI), inclusive of gap analysis, user access reviews, and auditing
- Demonstrated success managing complex projects, teams, and DevOps operations at scale

- Ability to navigate ambiguity and simplify complex technical landscapes

Location Dependent Information
This role is open to candidates and the expected salary range for this role is $100,000-$125,000. The specific salary for the successful candidate will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible to participate in Housecall Pro’s equity plan and the following benefits: health care insurance (medical, dental, vision, disability), employee assistance program, 401(K), flexible time off, paid parental leave, tech reimbursement, and other company benefits.
