Job Description

As the Director - Data Strategy & Insights, you will serve as a key member of the Data Strategy & Insights (DSI) leadership team. This is a high-impact, strategic leadership role responsible for helping deliver and evolve the end-to-end vision, deliverable execution, and commercial success of our analytics and insights organization. Operating as a strategic partner to the Sales organization, you will oversee analytical execution across multiple retailers, brands, and digital innovation solutions, partnering directly with the VP of DSI and Group Director of DSI, Data Science and Engineering to ensure flawless execution and strategic innovation. In this role, you will act as the definitive bridge between commercial strategy and the Engineering/Data Science ecosystems, helping define and translate complex technical methodologies, owning and establishing third-party data partnerships, and managing and leading internal delivery teams. This is a highly visible, hands-on 'player-coach' role that blends senior-level strategic consulting with deep tactical execution—directly pulling data, leveraging and helping to evolve analytical frameworks, and presenting high-value strategic deliverables to top-tier clients across the retail and CPG ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

This is a fully remote position. The key responsibilities include:

  • Direct Deliverable Ownership: Actively own the end-to-end delivery cycle for critical client accounts; directly extract data from disparate sources, execute advanced statistical analyses, and author and deliver executive-level presentations that convert complex findings into clear, actionable commercial strategies.

  • Client Strategic Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior brand and retailer stakeholders, leveraging data to drive mutual revenue, expand margins, and optimize campaign performance.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Innovation: Serve as a core liaison connecting Sales, Engineering, Data Science, Product, Operations, Marketing, and Innovation teams to align technical capabilities with market demands while leading Proof of Concepts (POCs), client Pilots, and response frameworks for high-value RFPs/RFIs.

  • Financial & Methodological Oversight: Refine analytical methodologies and modernization of the analytic stack to transition legacy reporting processes into scalable, automated workflows, while partnering directly with leadership to manage capacity planning, negotiating third-party vendor contracts, and optimizing budgets.

  • Team Leadership & Culture: Mentor and cultivate a high-performing organization of managers and analysts, fostering technical excellence, precise logic consistency, rigorous methodologies, and persuasive strategic storytelling.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience & Domain Expertise: 10-15 years of leadership experience in data strategy, omnichannel analytics, or marketing services consulting, with extensive experience operating at a Director or Senior Director level in a commercial environment.

  • Retail Media Network (RMN) Mastery: Deep strategic and technical immersion within the RMN, shopper marketing, and omnichannel campaign measurement ecosystems, working directly with CPG brands and retailers.

  • Coding & Modeling Proficiency: Strong, hands-on coding capability (SQL required; Python a plus) with deep expertise in statistical modeling, test-vs-control design, and the fundamentals of an overall data stack and analytics pipeline.

  • Modern Analytic Stack & AI Tools: Advanced experience with Business Intelligence tools (specifically Tableau), data management platforms (Snowflake and Streamlit highly preferred), and proven experience integrating generative AI workflows—specifically Gemini—to accelerate data analysis, optimize daily operations, and elevate team presentation materials.

  • Education & Business Acumen: BA/BS degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a highly quantitative field (MBA or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline is strongly preferred), alongside a demonstrated track record of managing budgets and successfully responding to RFPs/RFIs.
