Senior Manager of Data Science

Location: Waltham, MA or Bethesda, MD or United States (Remote)

About the Role:

We're looking for a hands-on Senior Manager of Data Science to lead our growing team in building AI-powered solutions that drive our sales and marketing products. You'll guide a small team but might team of data scientists across the US and Canada, working closely with ML engineers, product teams, and engineering leads to deploy scalable AI solutions.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead R&D efforts in data science and AI, focusing on recommendation systems, search, and information retrieval capabilities
  • Guide the team in building and deploying production-ready models and data pipelines
  • Work closely with product owners and engineering leads across multiple pods
  • Present data science capabilities both internally and externally, including publishing papers
  • Mentor and develop data science talent while growing the team
  • Drive best practices for scalable AI/ML solutions
  • Oversee the integration of unstructured data into various ML models

What You'll Need:

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
  • 5+ years industry experience in data science after degree completion
  • 3+ years managing data science teams in product-focused environments
  • Deep expertise in recommendation systems, NLP, and knowledge graphs
  • Strong coding skills and hands-on technical leadership experience
  • Track record of deploying complex ML and GenAI systems in production
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments

Technical Skills:

  • Recommendation systems
  • Natural Language Processing and Gen AI (Language understanding, topic and sentiment modeling, semantic search)
  • Knowledge graphs
  • RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation)
