As Rebet continues to scale rapidly, we're committed to building a performance-driven culture rooted in data and financial discipline. We are committed to making data a core part of every decision. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Data Engineering to help us unlock real-time reporting, consumer and marketing insights, optimize performance, and fuel smarter growth across the organization.  If you are detail-obsessed and enjoy building robust, scalable data systems that actually work (instead of duct-taped disasters), this role is for you. You’ll design and maintain data pipelines, create efficient databases, and collaborate with data scientists and analysts to make sure our data is both reliable and ready for action. Your work will power smarter decision-making and keep our data infrastructure from falling into chaos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement efficient database architectures to support analytics and  applications.
  • Develop ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into a  central data warehouse.
  • Work with massive datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that shape business strategies.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and deliver solid  solutions.
  • Write clean, reusable code for data manipulation and analysis using Python and Java.
  • Build RESTful APIs for seamless data access across applications and services.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure speed, stability, and scalability.
  • Contribute to model training initiatives to enhance predictive analytics with linked data

Qualifications

  • Proven experience over 10+ years in database design, development, and management.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and Java for data engineering tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools like Talend, Airflow, or similar.
  • Background in analyzing linked data sets to extract meaningful insights.
  • Problem-solving skills sharp enough to untangle even the messiest pipeline issues.
  • Clear, confident communication—because “the database is down” needs context, not
    panic.

This position is onsite at our Boston HQ located next to South Station.
