Primary Purpose

The Culture & Belonging Director is responsible for developing strategies and advancing initiatives that foster an inclusive workplace where every employee can thrive, be seen, heard, and valued for their unique contributions, ultimately driving overall business effectiveness and solidifying our organization as an employer of choice.

This role influences with a data-driven approach, guiding organizational strategies that embed diverse perspectives, equitable practices, and inclusive thinking and behavior into every aspect of the employee experience and organizational culture.

The Director will collaborate with leaders across the organization to develop and integrate inclusive practices and programs into everyday operations and decision-making processes that provide sustainable results.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week onsite at our headquarters in Newton, MA.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy that aligns with Bright Horizons’ mission, HEART behaviors, and organizational goals.
  • Partner with organizational leaders to understand gaps and opportunities, serving as a thought-leader to influence strategic plans to enable an inclusive and equitable employee experience.
  • Leverage data, internal and external benchmarks and enterprise-wide employee experience feedback to inform strategic decision-making, drive continuous improvement, and ensure accountability.
  • Serve as a thought leader of inclusion initiatives to enable culturally relevant, contextually appropriate decisions and practices, aligned with the unique needs of each line of business and geography, and reflective of current organizational priorities.
  • Design and implement a strategic framework to align Employee Resource Groups and culture programs with the organizational mission, vision and desired business outcomes.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on learning and development content to enable the delivery of best practices and current research.
  • Collaborate with learning and development teams to evaluate and recommend strategies that create and deliver growth opportunities for leaders that deepen their understanding, strengthen inclusive behaviors, and foster a workplace culture that is responsive, respectful, and equity driven.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to review organizational policies and processes and influence the process of equitable practices.
  • Provide guidance and facilitate listening sessions, training, and events to build awareness and enhance knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion to foster a more inclusive and culturally responsive workplace.
  • Provide communication updates to appropriate stakeholders as needed to raise awareness of employee feedback, inclusion and belonging efforts, and organizational impact.
  • May supervise other team members as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of embedding DEI initiatives and processes at an enterprise level
  • 3 years of project or program management experience
  • 3 years of change management experience
  • 3 years of implementing cultural competencies and dexterity across organizations

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Data & Analytics

  • Inclusive Data Analysis: Ability to interpret workforce data through an equity lens.
  • Bias Detection: Skills to identify and mitigate bias in algorithms and HR systems.
  • DEI Metrics Reporting: Proficiency in creating dashboards

2. Technology & Accessibility

  • Ethical AI: Understanding fairness principles in AI-driven performance tools.

3. Cultural Competency and Dexterity

  • Global Inclusion Practices: Skills to adapt DEI strategies across regions.
  • Inclusive Communication: Ability to design and deliver content that respects cultural and identity diversity.

4. Compliance & Governance

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with DEI-related laws and ESG reporting frameworks.

5. Change Leadership

  • Inclusive Leadership: Ability to lead diverse teams and foster psychological safety.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Skills to influence and align leadership on DEI goals.

Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $115,000 - $140,000. The pay range listed here is what Bright Horizons in good faith anticipates offering for this job opening. Actual compensation offers within this range will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education and training, certifications, geography, and other relevant business or organizational factors.

This position is also eligible for bonus and RSUs.
