The Importance of the Role

The Director, Corporate Strategy will provide leadership, oversight delivery of the company’s long-range strategy. This leader will also be accountable for actively managing Sarepta’s portfolio prioritization process and approval. Finally, as part of the newly formed Internal Consulting team, the individual will also champion/lead various key corporate initiatives as approved by the executive committee. This role reports into Corporate Strategy and Program Management organization, which is tasked with ensuring execution of the overall corporate strategy including the company’s long-range strategic plan.
This role is highly cross-functional in nature and will involve collaboration across the entire enterprise, with external partners, and directly with senior leadership. The Director of Corporate Strategy and Internal Consulting is charged with staying abreast of the overall biotech / genetic therapy landscape. The role will actively identify strategic gaps, evaluate ongoing strategic execution monitor market dynamics, and competitive intelligence.

The Opportunity to Make a Difference

Strategic Planning

  • Lead a highly cross functional team to deliver Sarepta’s long range strategic plan evaluating current and future portfolio opportunities as well as corporate capabilities.

  • Support R&D strategy to expand current indications and enter into new disease areas

  • Lead and coordinate strategic off-sites and pipeline annual reviews

  • Align budgets and financial planning to corporate strategy and priorities

  • Drive process and accountabilities for creation of key cross-functional deliverables and milestones

  • Modify strategic recommendations based on current status of programs and risk factors

  • Proactively identify gaps and areas of opportunity and work cross functionally to fill gaps

  • Create and utilize modeling methodologies that will interrogate the portfolio and R&D resources to support internal platforms/programs and external investment opportunities

  • Work with finance to incorporate long-range financial plan, including investment requirements

  • Develop and maintain outside competitive landscape tracking major milestones, newsfeeds and insights from competitors

  • Provide risk assessment on timing of data and readouts to support investment decision making

  • Develop and maintain a portfolio prioritization and Probability of Success methodology.  Manage the cross functional team accountable for generation of the prioritization and overall view on the Sarepta Portfolio ultimately obtaining approval by the RDC and Executive Committee

Internal Consulting

  • Beyond strategy management responsibilities, the individual will also lead key corporate initiatives as deemed critical by the Executive Committee.  These projects vary heavily by type, duration and scope.

  • Projects will be sponsored by an Executive Committee member 

  • These projects offset the need for costly external consultants and maintain knowledge within Sarepta

More about You

  • MBA or PhD in technical discipline

  • At least 8- 10 years experience with demonstrated success in leading large-scale programs/projects with proven results and effective leadership and management skills

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in R&D - ability to define, develop and implement portfolio strategies based on trends, opportunities, needs and market direction within pharmaceutical industry and/or health care environment.

  • Operational experience in investment optimization models, asset valuation and portfolio assessment techniques.

  • Strong financial, budget and resource planning experience

  • Demonstrated success in leading through influence

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate information and apply creative thinking and proactive problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, build, and implement solutions to cross-functional team issues

  • Excellent balanced approach to process versus results-driven leadership and management skills

  • Excellent negotiating skills

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills up, down and across the organization

  • Strong business, analytical and planning skills

This position is hybrid, you will be expected to work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States and/or attend Company-sponsored in-person events from time to time.

The targeted salary range for this position is $185,600 - $232,000 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta’s compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
