Overview

As the Director, Contracts and Legal Operations, you play a critical role within the legal department, responsible for overseeing all aspects of contracts management and legal operations, driving efficiency and alignment across the organization; demonstrating extensive expertise in contracts management, commercial operations, procurement, and legal technology platforms, coupled with dynamic people management skills and a passion for mission-driven work.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the sales contracting lifecycle for diverse customer segments, including the processes for how the legal team handles negotiation, redlining, analysis, and execution and workflow optimization.
  • Negotiate, redline, analyze, and oversee the execution of sales and procurement agreements under attorney supervision and within approved guidelines to identify and mitigate risks associated with contracts, sales, and vendor relationships.
  • Implement, maintain, and manage legal technology solutions, including Conga, our CLM, to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Fluency with Conga CLM and Salesforce CRM, and ideally Conga Admin Certification, for managing legal contract process is essential. Conversance with Zip (procurement workflow tool) is also a plus.
  • Develop and maintain standardized processes, templates, and guidelines to streamline contract workflows.
  • Collaborate with RevOps on supporting their Deals Desk function to ensure smooth workflow/handoff between RevOps and Legal for commercial transactions that aligns with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide regular reporting and analytics on legal operations metrics to inform leadership decisions.
  • Lead legal team’s support of Procurement’s vendor contracting processes, including management of our procurement platform, ZIP, to optimize obtaining favorable terms where feasible, identify cost-saving opportunities, and guide compliance with company policies.
  • Drive process improvements and support change management strategies for company and Legal department objectives, including for post-closing integration in merger and acquisition contexts.
  • Lead a high-performing, fully remote team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across sales, marketing, finance, and legal to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment.
  • Lead efforts to plan, coordinate and design effective team offsites, group activities, meetings, and training sessions, including agenda design, assigning roles to content contributors and coordinating logistics to drive team engagement, active participation, and effective knowledge sharing.
  • Take an active role in Legal team management, including collaborating with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel on goal-setting, communication, and solutioning to advance operational initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Deputy General Counsel and other senior leaders on contracts and legal operations matters.
  • Manage, lead, and organize departmental record-keeping and knowledge-sharing resources instilling best practices across the Legal team.

Qualifications 

Minimum Qualifications  

  • 10+ years of experience in contracts management, legal operations, or related fields, with a focus on SaaS or eCommerce industries.
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation, redlining, and lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency with legal and procurement technology platforms, including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and Salesforce.
  • Expertise with our CLM tool, Conga.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree; JD or advanced degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in change management, including in M&A environments, is highly desirable.
  • Conga Administration certification.
  • Experience with the procurement management platform, Zip.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing remote teams.
  • Active CLOC member
