Director of Contract & Insurance Administration
Schochet is seeking an experienced Director of Contract & Insurance Administration to lead the Company's contract procurement and insurance program management. This involves oversight of service agreement and insurance claims management, and risk-management initiatives across a portfolio of approximately 40 residential properties.
This is a key role that works closely with a variety of key roles, including senior management, property teams, clients, vendors and contractors, insurance brokers and carriers, and other business partners.
The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of commercial insurance, contract administration, and claims management, along with the ability to develop practical processes that protect the Company while supporting efficient property operations.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Administration
- Oversee contracts across the Company's residential property portfolio and ensure compliance with company, legal, and insurance requirements.
- Coordinate contract execution and legal review as needed.
- Maintain contract records, renewal dates, standardized service agreements and insurance requirements.
Insurance Program Management
- Serve as the Company's primary liaison with insurance brokers and carriers and coordinate annual renewals.
- Review insurance proposals, coverage options, premiums, deductibles, and broker recommendations.
- Coordinate insurance requirements for acquisitions, refinancing, development, construction, and other major projects.
- Oversee significant property, general liability, and other insurance claims from reporting through resolution.
Contract Risk Transfer & Vendor Compliance
- Review significant contracts for appropriate insurance and indemnification provisions.
- Manage vendor certificates of insurance and monitor compliance with insurance and risk-transfer requirements.
- Work with Operations to address vendor and contractor compliance issues.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in commercial insurance, risk management, claims, brokerage, P&C insurance, contract/procurement administration, or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Commercial real estate or multifamily housing experience strongly preferred, including experience managing significant property and/or liability claims.
- Familiarity with property, general liability, umbrella/excess liability, workers' compensation, cyber, professional liability, builder's risk, and other commercial coverages.
- Experience working with insurance brokers, carriers, adjusters, attorneys, contractors, and property-management professionals.
