We are seeking an innovative content leader to drive Mimecast's content strategy and operations across all channels. This role will lead our editorial thought leadership program, oversee social media content creation, and pioneer the integration of AI-powered content workflows with human creative expertise. The ideal candidate combines deep cybersecurity knowledge with proven leadership in modern content operations, understands how to scale content programs through AI orchestration, and possesses the editorial judgment to maintain authentic, engaging brand voice at scale.

Reporting to the Vice President of Brand and Communications, this position plays a pivotal role in elevating Mimecast's profile with customers, partners, security researchers, threat intelligence community, influencers, and the broader cybersecurity ecosystem through compelling, data-driven content that establishes Mimecast as the premier industry voice.

What You'll Do:

Content Strategy & Editorial Leadership:

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive cybersecurity-focused editorial content strategy and calendar aligned with Mimecast's key messaging value pillars including Human Risk Management, Threat Intelligence, Innovation, and AI, driving brand awareness, equity, and demand.

  • Define integrated, multi-channel content strategies leveraging paid, earned, social and owned channels to promote key brand value pillars ensuring messaging connects to solution stories, and that content is relevant to internal stakeholders such as growth, channel, field, customer and partner marketing teams.

  • Provide editorial oversight and strategic direction for the social media content creator, ensuring social programs authentically reflect Mimecast's voice while engaging target audiences across platforms.

  • Orchestrate creation, production, and publication of content including assets created by other key internal and external thought leaders including executive subject-matter experts, threat intelligence analysts, and product marketing.

  • Collaborate with content creators to organize and maintain the company's blog and overall blog strategy.

  • Stay ahead of cybersecurity trends, news, and events to inform strategy and rapid response tactics.

Content Development & Execution:

  • Lead the creation of high-quality content, including partnering to develop original and third-party commissioned research and reports, case studies, blogs, social programs, webinars, podcasts, and videos.

  • Develop content that addresses cybersecurity pain points, compliance challenges, and emerging threats for various audience segments.

  • Optimize content for SEO, engagement, and conversion across digital platforms. Work with web and SEO teams to optimize content for search visibility and inbound user journeys.

  • Manage content distribution strategies across social media, email, website, and industry publications.

  • Exercise strong editorial judgment to ensure all content maintains an authentic, accessible voice that avoids corporate speak and resonates with technical and business audiences alike.

  • Guide the development of compelling visual content including graphics, infographics, and video assets that complement written content, ensuring creative consistency and alignment with Mimecast's brand identity across all channels.

AI-Human Content Orchestration:

  • Pioneer the integration of AI agents and human creative talent to scale content production while maintaining quality and authenticity.

  • Design and implement workflows that leverage AI for content ideation, drafting, optimization, and personalization while ensuring human oversight for editorial judgment, brand voice, and strategic direction.

  • Train and guide team members on effective AI tool usage for content creation, ensuring outputs align with brand standards and maintain authentic voice.

  • Continuously evaluate and implement emerging AI technologies to enhance content operations, efficiency, and impact.

  • Establish quality control processes that ensure AI-assisted content meets the same standards as human-created content and reflects genuine expertise rather than generic output.

Performance & Optimization:

  • Define, track and report on content performance metrics to inform future strategy, content types, and themes.

  • Establish KPIs to measure content effectiveness, audience engagement, lead generation, and pipeline contribution.

  • Use analytics to refine content strategies, AI workflows, and improve performance.

  • Manage content budget, freelance contributors, vendor relationships, and external agencies as needed.

What You'll Bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in content marketing, journalism, or technical writing, with at least 5 years in cybersecurity or a related industry.

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including threat intelligence, incident response, compliance, and risk management and have direct experience creating, editing, and orchestrating cyber-related content for a pureplay cybersecurity company or B2B tech companies with strong cyber portfolios.

  • Proven experience leading content teams and programs, with specific experience overseeing social media content strategies and creators.

  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to scale content programs, including prompt engineering, workflow design, and AI-human collaboration models.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • Proven ability to translate technical cybersecurity topics into compelling content for different audiences.

  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to identify and eliminate corporate jargon, ensuring content maintains an authentic, conversational, and engaging voice.

  • Creative mindset with the ability to guide visual content development and maintain consistent brand identity across written, visual, and multimedia content formats.

  • Knowledge of SEO, content distribution, and analytics.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

  • Experience working cross-functionally and collaboratively with other content creators, stakeholders and subject matter experts.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, frameworks, and industry regulations (GDPR, CISA, etc.).

The base salary range for this position is $152,000−$228,000 plus benefits. This range represents the minimum and maximum new hire compensation for this role. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location with individual compensation also dependent on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills. Final offers will reflect these considerations and may vary accordingly.
