We are searching for a Director, Computational Multiomics, Neuroscience, to be located at one of our offices in either Cambridge, MA; Spring House, PA; La Jolla, CA United States of America or Beerse, Antwerp, Belgium.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will lead a disease area, Neuropsychiatry or Neurodegeneration, establishing the team’s computational multiomics strategy across the portfolio from discovery through development, communicating that strategy effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Lead a team of 2 computational scientists in the application of large-scale multiomics and genetic capabilities to support our pipeline and advance data and technological approaches in bioinformatics & integrative data analytics.
  • Partner with Neuroscience Discovery on strategy and process for evaluating target opportunities from the perspective of cutting-edge genetics, bioinformatics, biosignatures, brain biology, and mechanism, drawing upon a combination of internal and external human data resources.
  • Partner with Clinical Development, Global Regulatory Affairs, Data Science, Patient Reported Outcomes, Statistics and other core functions in Precision Measures (including Biomarkers & Imaging) to contribute to holistic measurement plans (across molecular, imaging, digital, clinical and other measures) for our compounds in development.
  • Develop relationships with key scientists and clinicians externally and with internal stakeholders to map target mechanisms to human genetics and brain biology with a view towards different indications or patient populations and develop forward looking data strategies along the path to launch.
  • Create a purpose driven culture in which decisions and actions are strategically informed by patient, customer and employee needs by aligning Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives with the strategies and goals of the team and enterprise.

Qualifications:

Education

PhD with 8 years of progressive experience in a computational or physical science with prior application of advanced methods to the life sciences. A degree in a biological science with extensive application of advanced analytic methodologies will also be considered. Computational Neuroscience experience is a plus.

Required:

  • Ability to translate data into information and strategies into executable action plans.
  • Experience in leading interdisciplinary projects teams including scientists, data analysts and clinicians.
  • Extensive background working hands-on deriving insights from high-dimensional molecular data, particularly transcriptomic, genetic, proteomic, and/or single cell data.
  • Internationally recognized track record of scientific contributions with first author publications in high-impact journals.

Preferred:

  • A track record as a people manager in an industry research environment.
  • Known for driving towards novel solutions to problems (often sought after for strategic advice)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team, including laboratory scientists, bioinformaticians, statisticians, and data analysts
  • Familiarity with genomics, human genetics and disease biology in Neurodegeneration and/or neuropsychiatry
  • Effectively communicates technical information to audiences regardless of audience background.
  • Experience and familiarity with electronic health record derived phenotypes.
  • Strong proficiency in managing workflows, priorities, and deadlines and managing multiple projects in team environments.
  • Ability to write manuscripts for publication and has maintained a record of high-quality peer reviewed publications and oral presentations in a relevant field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as organizational and time management skills.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $160,000 to 276,000.  The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.  Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). 
 

Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
