Change Management Practice Leader DIRECTOR – Job Description
As the Practice Leader for Change Management, this Director will build and lead a world-class internal team of change professionals while establishing our firm as the premier destination for organizational transformation expertise. In this entrepreneurial leadership role, you'll recruit and develop top-tier change management talent, create proprietary frameworks and methodologies, and build comprehensive intellectual capital that differentiates our practice in the marketplace. You'll drive business development efforts by engaging directly with C-suite executives at leading organizations, translating complex transformation challenges into compelling service offerings that deliver measurable business impact. Your dual focus on internal capability building and external client engagement will position our Change Management practice for sustained growth while establishing industry-leading best practices that set new standards for transformation excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Practice Building & Team Development
- Build and scale the Change Management practice, including recruiting & developing change professionals and consultants
- Develop comprehensive training programs, career progression pathways, and capability building initiatives for internal team members
- Establish practice governance, quality standards, and delivery excellence frameworks
- Create internal knowledge sharing platforms and communities of practice
Intellectual Property & Methodology Development
- Create proprietary change management frameworks, tools, and accelerators that differentiate service offerings
- Develop comprehensive intellectual capital including white papers, case studies, and thought leadership content
- Establish best practices for change readiness assessments, stakeholder engagement, and adoption measurement
- Build reusable assets and templates that enhance delivery efficiency and consistency
Business Development & Sales Leadership
- Drive practice revenue growth through strategic business development and client acquisition
- Lead sales efforts including RFP responses, client presentations, and contract negotiations
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities and service line extensions
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects and opportunities
Strategic Change Leadership & Client Partnership
- Lead enterprise-wide transformation programs for companies across diverse industries and geographies
- Partner with C-suite executives and board members to design change strategies aligned with business objectives; Serve as trusted advisor.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Design and execute comprehensive communication strategies for large-scale organizational changes
Thought Leadership & Market Presence
- Establish thought leadership through research, publications, conference speaking, and industry participation
- Represent the firm at industry events and client forums
Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in business, Psychology, Organizational Development, Management, Communications, or related field and 5 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 3 years of related work experience.
• MBA is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in change management, organizational development, or transformation consulting.
• Practice building experience: Proven track record of building, scaling, or leading consulting practices or service lines.
• Business development expertise: Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, client acquisition, and market expansion.
• Intellectual property development: Experience creating proprietary methodologies, frameworks, and thought leadership content.
• Team building and recruitment: Strong background in recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing professional services teams.
• Proven expertise in change methodology development, stakeholder engagement, and/or digital transformation to optimize organizational performance and drive strategic business initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in change management tools such as Prosci ADKAR, Kotter 8-Step, Microsoft Project, and collaboration platforms
• Experience leading and managing in complex business environments with multiple stakeholder groups.
• The ability to prioritize effectively on projects and the skills to adapt quickly to new challenges and concepts.
• Excellent facilitation and influencing skills, and the ability to develop long-lasting relationships both internally and externally with executives, employees, and key stakeholders.
• The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in consulting or advisory role.
• Experience launching or scaling new service offerings within consulting organizations.
• Track record of thought leadership development and market positioning.
• Certifications such as Prosci Change Management, Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP), PMP, or Lean Six Sigma.
• International change management experience or exposure to global transformation initiatives and cross-cultural change dynamics would be a highly valued competency.
