Senior Director, Business Strategy – Media & Entertainment

Role Summary

Our Media & Entertainment division is seeking a Senior Director of Business Strategy to play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of growth. Reporting to the VP of M&E Strategy, this leader will drive high-impact strategic initiatives across the portfolio.

This role is designed for a senior strategy leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution, someone who can move from ambiguity to action, and from insight to measurable business outcomes. You will lead a team and partner closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Industry leaders to define go-to-market strategies, unlock new growth opportunities, and influence key investment decisions.

A core part of this role is translating complex market dynamics and opportunities into clear, data-driven business cases that shape Autodesk’s strategic priorities, including new offerings, partnerships, and M&A.

This is a highly visible role with significant executive exposure, offering the opportunity to drive strategy through execution and deliver measurable business impact across new AI, SaaS, and platform initiatives.

Key Priorities for This Role

  • Lead the identification, development, and go-to-market strategy for new AI, SaaS, and platform-based offerings

  • Translate complex market opportunities into clear, data-driven business cases that inform strategic investments, partnerships, and M&A decisions

Responsibilities

  • Build and own complex business cases for new offerings, investments, partnerships, and M&A, including market sizing, financial modeling, and strategic rationale

  • Lead the development for short- and long-term GTM strategy for the M&E portfolio

  • Identify and validate new market opportunities, translating insights into actionable growth initiatives

  • Define monetization and pricing strategies to maximize long-term value across new and existing offerings

  • Spearhead market research and synthesize customer, competitive, and industry insights to inform product and marketing direction

  • Lead quarterly business reviews and anticipate strategic risks and opportunities that could significantly impact M&E growth

  • Create executive-ready strategy briefs and narratives

  • Build strong relationships with executives, customers, partners, and industry stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting, business development, or related fields, with a strong track record of driving strategic initiatives and business growth

  • 10+ years of experience operating at a senior leadership level leading cross-functional teams and influencing executive stakeholders

  • Experience in top-tier management consulting, or equivalent experience in a highly strategic role within a leading technology company

  • Proven experience bringing new SaaS, AI, or platform-based offerings to market, from opportunity identification through go-to-market execution

  • Demonstrated ability to structure, build, and communicate complex, data-driven business cases to inform investment decisions, partnerships, and growth strategy

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, including financial modeling, market analysis, and executive-level storytelling

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred

  • Travel ~20%, including internationally

The Ideal Candidate

  • Exceptional business and financial acumen, with a track record of structuring and solving complex strategic problems

  • Ability to operate at both 0→1 (new offerings) and scale (portfolio growth)

  • Outstanding communicator who can translate complex analyses into clear, compelling executive narratives

  • Proven ability to lead and influence in a matrixed, global organization

  • Strong bias for action with the ability to move from ambiguity to decision and execution

  • Passion for technology, with deep knowledge of software, AI, and platform ecosystems

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
