About the Job

Join the team transforming care for people with immune challenges, rare diseases, cancers, and neurological conditions. In Specialty Care, you’ll help deliver breakthrough treatments that bring hope to patients with some of the highest unmet needs.

At Sanofi, we chase the miracles of science to improve lives. Sanofi Specialty Care North America (SPC NA) is developing and commercializing a groundbreaking portfolio of advanced medicines for rare and immune-mediated diseases over the next decade. The Strategy and Operations Office is growing to accelerate transformational initiatives and drive operational excellence across SPC NA.

We are seeking a Director, Business Performance & Commercial Operations to serve as the performance engine of the SPC NA Strategy & Operations Office. This role builds the data, metrics, and insights that drive decisions — translating strategic priorities into measurable outcomes and owning the "what are we measuring and how are we performing" story. The Director partners closely with the governance and operations function to integrate performance inputs into leadership cadence and decision-making.

About Sanofi:

We’re an R&D-driven, AI-powered biopharma company committed to improving people’s lives and delivering compelling growth. Our deep understanding of the immune system – and innovative pipeline – enables us to invent medicines and vaccines that treat and protect millions of people around the world. Together, we chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives.

Main Responsibilities:

Performance Measurement & Analytics Infrastructure

  • Build and maintain OKRs, KPIs, and tracking infrastructure that translate strategic priorities into measurable outcomes

  • Deliver data-driven analytics and insights across SPC NA to support decision-making at all levels

  • Produce Now/Next/Risks inputs for leadership consumption (dashboard publication owned by governance function)

  • Track strategic and commercial initiative progress — what are we delivering against the plan?

  • Partner with commercial, marketing, medical affairs, and digital/AI teams on analytics needs

Quarterly Business Reviews & Performance Reporting

  • Develop QBR content including performance analysis, insights, and recommendations (logistics and facilitation owned by governance function)

  • Synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership

  • Maintain visibility into portfolio performance and strategic initiative progress

  • Provide regular performance updates and recommendations to leadership

Commercial Operations & Planning Support

  • Support brand planning processes, including budget development and resource allocation recommendations

  • Partner with Finance and commercial teams on planning cycles and investment decisions

  • Provide analytical support for strategic and commercial initiatives

  • Identify opportunities to improve data-driven decision-making across the organization

About You

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in commercial operations, business analytics, or management consulting with demonstrated responsibility for financial performance management — including P&L oversight, budget development, ROI analysis, and resource allocation decisions

  • Proven track record building and managing performance frameworks that drive business decisions — OKRs, KPIs, dashboards, and metrics systems that translate strategy into measurable outcomes

  • Experience with commercial planning cycles — brand planning, budget processes, investment prioritization, and cross-functional planning in complex, matrixed environments

  • Management consulting background is a strong plus — particularly experience with top-tier firms (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Deloitte) and healthcare/life sciences engagements

  • Advanced analytical and executive communication skills — ability to transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for senior leadership

  • Healthcare or life sciences industry experience preferred — familiarity with pharmaceutical commercial models, specialty care markets, or regulated environments

  • Digital transformation exposure valued — experience with AI/ML applications, data strategy initiatives, or technology-enabled business transformation

Key Competencies:

  • Analytical rigor with strong business judgment

  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights

  • Collaborative and cross-functional by nature

  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments

  • Strong executive communication and storytelling with data

Travel & Work Environment:

  • Approximately 10–15% domestic travel, with increased frequency during major planning cycles and business reviews

  • This position may require extended periods at a computer workstation

  • Discover endless opportunities to grow your talent and drive your career, whether it’s through a promotion or lateral move, at home or internationally.

  • Enjoy a thoughtful, well-crafted rewards package that recognizes your contribution and amplifies your impact.

  • Take good care of yourself and your family, with a wide range of health and wellbeing benefits including high-quality healthcare, prevention and wellness programs and at least 14 weeks’ gender-neutral parental leave.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
