As Blockstream continues to grow, we are expanding our Consumer Products team to accelerate adoption of our Bitcoin-based tools, such as the Blockstream Jade hardware wallet and the Blockstream mobile wallet.

We are seeking a Director of Business Development to lead strategic growth and partnerships for Blockstream’s consumer product suite. This role will drive opportunities for user acquisition, ecosystem integrations, and retail distribution across global markets. You’ll work closely with marketing, product, design, dev, and executive teams to forge and manage partnerships that support long-term product adoption and revenue growth.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with deep experience in consumer-facing Bitcoin or fintech products, a strong network in the crypto ecosystem, and a proven ability to identify and close high-impact business opportunities. This role requires a mix of strategy, execution, and relationship-building with partners ranging from exchanges and hardware resellers to wallet integrators and payment platforms.

This position reports to the VP of Consumer Products and works closely with the Product leads, Marketing and Comms teams.

 (Responsibilities):

Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Development

  • Identify, negotiate, and close strategic partnerships that expand distribution and functionality of Blockstream app and Jade.
  • Build relationships with wallet platforms, exchanges, retailers, and fintech providers to increase product accessibility and usage.
  • Represent Blockstream at Bitcoin conferences and events to grow our consumer ecosystem and partner pipeline.

Market Development & Channel Expansion

  • Launch new go-to-market initiatives with distribution partners in key international markets.
  • Develop bundled offerings and co-marketing opportunities that enhance value for end-users.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to identify white space and emerging opportunities.

Growth & Adoption Strategy

  • Define and execute a growth strategy for consumer product lines, aligned with product and marketing roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to inform messaging, positioning, and feature prioritization based on partner and user feedback.
  • Work with analytics and finance teams to model growth scenarios and track KPIs for partnership success.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Product, Legal, and Compliance teams to structure scalable, compliant agreements.
  • Align closely with the VP of Mar-Comm team to amplify partner launches and integrations.
  • Provide executive reporting on partnership pipeline, performance, and strategic progress.

What We Look For In You (Required Qualifications):

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or growth strategy in fintech, Bitcoin, or consumer tech.
  • Strong knowledge of Bitcoin, hardware wallets, self-custody, and digital asset management.
  • Proven ability to build and manage complex partnerships that drive measurable results.
  • Deep network in the crypto and fintech industries, with a track record of sourcing and closing deals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience launching consumer financial products globally, especially in international markets.
  • Familiarity with Lightning Network, Taproot Assets, or other second-layer Bitcoin technologies.
  • Background in payments, remittances, or peer-to-peer finance.
  • Experience working with regulatory and compliance teams on go-to-market initiatives.
  • Technical literacy in Bitcoin or crypto infrastructure products.
