THE ROLE: Director, Associate Engagement and Communications

The Director of Associate Engagement and Communications is responsible for shaping and executing strategies that foster a connected, engaged, and informed associate experience. This role leads cross-functional efforts to build culture, drive internal communications, and ensure employees feel valued, heard, and aligned with the organization’s purpose and priorities. As a strategic leader and creative thinker, this individual will serve as a bridge between leadership and associates, helping to cultivate a consistent and authentic voice across communication channels, enhance transparency, and deepen connection across distributed teams. This leader must bring outstanding relationship-building skills, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to work seamlessly across departments to unify and elevate the associate experience.

 What You’ll Do…

Engagement Strategy & Culture Building

  • Design and execute associate engagement strategies aligned with company values, goals, and employee needs.
  • Lead the development of programs that build community, foster inclusion, and enhance employee belonging.
  • Own company-wide engagement initiatives such as surveys, listening sessions, recognition programs, and cultural events.
  • Partner with People, DEI, and Leadership teams to embed engagement best practices into the employee lifecycle.

Internal Communications

  • Develop and manage a company-wide internal communications strategy that ensures consistency, transparency, and clarity.
  • Craft communications from leadership and key business functions (e.g., People, Operations, Strategy) that drive understanding and inspire action.
  • Oversee content strategy and cadence for internal channels (Slack, intranet, newsletters, town halls, etc.).
  • Advise senior leaders and business partners on messaging, tone, and change communications.

Measurement & Impact

  • Lead efforts to measure associate engagement and communications effectiveness through surveys, focus groups, and analytics. 
  • Translate feedback into actionable insights and partner cross-functionally to drive improvements. 
  • Report regularly on progress toward engagement goals and key performance indicators.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead a small but high-performing team focused on engagement and internal communications. 
  • Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders including HRBPs, DEI, L&D, and Corporate Communications. 
  • Serve as a culture ambassador, modeling empathy, integrity, and creativity in all interactions.

  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or a related people-focused function.
  • Proven success in building and scaling programs that engage and inspire a diverse, distributed workforce. 
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of change management, organizational culture, and employee experience.
  • Excellent relationship building
  • Experience advising and collaborating with senior leaders.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering high-impact programs on time and on budget.
  • Experience in a matrixed environment is a plus

Base Salary Range: $160,000 - $180,000

Rue Gilt Groupe is committed to providing Associates with equal pay for equal work and carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to, prior experience, education, certification(s), license(s), skills and expertise, location, internal equity, and other factors that are job related and consistent with business need. Our goal is to support, reward and compensate the entire individual. Depending on role eligibility, your offer may also include bonus/commission, stock options, 401(k) participation, paid time off, medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance. Therefore, final offer amounts may vary from the amount stated.
