About GameChanger:

We believe in the life-changing impact youth sports have on and off the field because they encourage leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence—important life lessons that have the power to propel our youth toward meaningful futures. We recognize that without coaches, parents, and volunteers, organized youth sports could not exist. By building the first and best place to experience the youth sports moments important to our community, we are helping families elevate the next generation through youth sports.

So if you love sports and their community-building potential, or building cool products is your sport, GameChanger is the team for you. We are a remote-first, dynamic tech company based in New York City, and we are solving some of the biggest challenges in youth sports today.

The Position:

GameChanger is looking for a Director of Advertising to lead and accelerate our advertising strategy in partnership with the DICK’S Media Network (DMN). This role is the operational and strategic bridge between GC and DMN—responsible for driving our advertising product roadmap, sales proposition, and go-to-market execution. Reporting to our President, you’ll serve as the primary driver of GameChanger’s advertising story: shaping how our inventory is packaged, sold, and brought to market, while ensuring our brand and platform are consistently represented within broader DMN campaigns. This is a hands-on, matrixed leadership role ideal for a builder who can both navigate complexity and deliver results.

What You’ll Do:

  • Monetization & Product Strategy - Define and evolve GC’s ad monetization roadmap in close partnership with Product, Data, and Engineering. Guide what we build, why it matters, and how it ladders up to revenue and user experience.

  • Native Ad Format Development - Identify ad opportunities embedded in GC’s live content and community behaviors. Evaluate tradeoffs, validate concepts, and champion native formats that add value.

  • Go-To-Market Leadership - Lead the development of GC-specific pitch materials and sales narratives in coordination with DMN Sales and Product Marketing. Serve as the primary author of GC’s advertising story.

  • Brand & Agency Enablement - Join advertiser conversations, evangelize the GC value prop, and partner with DMN Sales to support education and adoption—especially for non-endemic growth areas.

  • Cross-Functional Execution - Operate as the primary driver of GC advertising initiatives—aligning teams, managing handoffs, and resolving ambiguity across GC and DMN stakeholders.

  • Friction Removal & Escalation - Surface and resolve operational blockers across product and sales workflows. Serve as the go-to partner for account ownership clarity, internal communications, and workflow cohesion.

Who You Are

  • 7+ years of experience in digital advertising, monetization, or adtech, with exposure to both product and GTM workstreams.

  • Proven track record of delivering advertising growth within consumer-facing platforms—ideally streaming, retail media, marketplaces, or social.

  • Comfortable working across matrixed orgs, shared ownership, and joint accountability (e.g., media networks, partnerships, alliances).

  • Confident communicator and partner to sales, product, and exec stakeholders.

  • Highly execution-oriented—moves fast, solves ambiguity, and iterates in real time.

  • Skilled at translating technical complexity into clear, sellable value propositions.

  • Experience in youth/family/sports content or community platforms preferred.

  • Familiarity with the ad needs of non-endemic brands preferred

Perks:

  • Work from our well-furnished, modern office in Manhattan, NY.

  • Unlimited vacation policy.

  • Paid volunteer opportunities.

  • Technology stipend - $4,000 every 2 years after your start to make sure you have the latest and greatest technology

  • WFH stipend - $500 annually to make your WFH situation comfortable.

  • Learning stipend - $500 annually towards continued development

  • Monthly physical, mental, wellness & learning stipend offered through Holisticly

  • Monthly lifestyle stipend offered through Fringe

  • Full health benefits - medical, dental, vision, prescription, FSA, HRA, HSA, and coverage for family/dependents.

  • Retirement savings - Traditional and Roth 401K plans are offered through Vanguard, with an immediate company match.

  • Life insurance - basic life, supplemental life, and dependent life.

  • Disability leave - short-term disability and long-term disability.

  • Company paid parental leave - up to 20 weeks for birthing parents and up to 12 weeks for non-birthing parents.

  • Family building benefits offered through Progyny.

  • DICK’S Sporting Goods and their family of brands teammate discount.

The target salary range for this position is between $200,000 and $230,000. This is part of a total compensation package that includes incentive, equity, and benefits for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We constantly review all teammate pay to ensure a great compensation package that is fair and equal across the board.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
