The Opportunity
As a Director of Accounting at 8020 Consulting, you’ll serve as a senior accounting and finance advisor to our clients, leveraging your technical expertise and leadership experience to solve complex challenges and deliver meaningful business impact.

You’ll lead high-priority accounting and financial reporting initiatives, partner directly with client leadership, and help organizations navigate periods of growth, transformation, and change. Engagements may span technical accounting, financial reporting, close optimization, audit readiness, internal controls, accounting systems, and other critical initiatives within the CFO’s organization.

Examples of Recent Engagements
Professionals with financial reporting and technical accounting expertise have supported clients by:
  • Building a scalable close and reporting function for a rapidly growing company, reducing close timelines while improving accuracy, controls, and accountability
  • Leading an ERP implementation or optimization, including chart of accounts redesign, process standardization, data migration, and finance team adoption
  • Designing and implementing internal controls to strengthen the accounting organization and prepare a private company for SOX compliance and public-company readiness
  • Leading post-acquisition accounting integration, aligning accounting policies, systems, processes, controls, and reporting across newly acquired entities
  • Establishing a new accounting function for a startup or newly acquired business, including policies, systems, controls, close processes, and team structure

Ideal candidates will have:
  • Significant experience leading accounting and financial reporting functions
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting best practices
  • Experience with technical accounting, complex transactions, and audit readiness
  • Strong understanding of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Experience partnering with CFOs, Controllers, and other senior executives
  • A track record of improving accounting processes, controls, and reporting
  • Experience with ERP and accounting technologies such as NetSuite, BlackLine, SAP, or similar platforms
  • The ability to quickly assess complex situations, identify opportunities, and develop practical solutions
  • Strong client management and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach
  • The ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
