The Director of Accounts Payable is responsible for is responsible for overseeing customer, vendor and dealer accounts payable. This position requires a process-driven leader to play a key role in streamlining processes, ensuring operational excellence, and building sustainable processes to enable our growth. This role will be responsible for ensuring accounting is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Essential Functions
Lead and manage a team of Accounts Payable professionals, including people leaders, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and continuous improvement
Responsible for customer refunds for add-on services and overpayments, vendor accounts payable, employee travel expense reimbursement, and dealer funding
Collaborate with Treasury, external bank partner, and accounting to manage bank accounts and wire activity to support structured finance transactions
Oversee unclaimed property escheatment and vendor 1099 process
Manages state license, franchise, sales and use tax processes
Ensures controls are designed appropriately and operate effectively
Assists with lender and financial audits
Identifies and implements automation for process efficiency
Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of operational processes
Represents accounting in cross-company growth initiatives and system modernization projects
Works with Compliance and Legal to ensure regulatory requirements are met
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in accounting required
7 years accounting and/or audit experience in progressively elevated roles required (Fortune 500 experience preferred)
3 years of people management experience required
2 years public accounting experience preferred
Certified Public Accountant (active or inactive) preferred
Able to communicate with all levels and work cross functionally
Experience with designing, implementing and measuring financial controls
Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, visualize, talk, hear, and handle or touch objects or controls. The employee may occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.
This position is an office-based position where you must be able to sit for long periods of time. The employee will be working on a computer 90% of the time.
