Are you ready to lead the development and evolution of our Bryte IQ platform, shaping the experience of our developer community as the Director of Engineering? In this pivotal role, you will oversee the technical vision, architecture, and development of Spectrum's website, tools, documentation, dashboards, and data APIs. You'll champion a developer-centric mindset, understanding the third-party developer journey, and drive platform adoption. As a hands-on technical leader, you'll combine strategic thinking with tactical execution, reporting to the VP of Engineering, and playing a critical role in our product-led growth strategy.
WHAT DIRECTORS, SOFTWARE DEVELOPEMENT ENJOY MOST

• Lead an innovative and collaborative work team in producing exceptional software.
• Establish and measure performance targets for management of software development department.
• Lead development of new software technology and initiatives which may include, but not limited to code architecture, development, and unit and near neighbor testing and related equipment requirements.
• Develop an effective front line management team and assist them with developing their direct reports to drive a high-performance culture and environment.
• Evaluate and provide direction for new or existing technologies and current operational initiatives.
• Evaluate, in conjunction with all levels of leadership, third party software solutions, code architecture, technical operations, strategic planning of releases, network operations, dispatch, and new product development and deployment.
• Direct quality control programs for software development, software solutions and consistent operational procedures.
• Review selections on bids for contracted projects and provide recommendations as necessary.
• Oversee capital budget process and executes approved budget plan.
• Lead and participate in succession planning.
• Assist in championing new technologies as we scale for the future.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications

• Education: BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience
• Experience:
  • 8+ years Software Engineering experience
  • 5+ years Leadership experience
  • Experience leading teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Skills:
  • In-depth Knowledge of Java, JavaScript or Python and modern software approaches and architectures
  • Advanced knowledge of current software development methodologies and practices
  • Experience leading teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner
  • Ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects
  • Ability to drive multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Ability to organize and delegate work to various levels of management and software professionals
• Travel Ability:
  • Office Environment
  • Travel as required
• Schedule:

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience
  • Hands-on experience with relevant technologies such as JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js or React), Pyton, Django or similar web frameworks, GraphQL and RESTful API design.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Experience in API design and a passion for creating intuitive and effective developer experiences.

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
  • Deveoper-centric mindset with deep undertanding of third-party developer needs and pain points.

The base pay for this position generally is between
$138,800.00 and $246,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
