Terra is looking for a Digital Strategist who can turn big ideas into smart, actionable marketing strategies that move the needle for our clients. In this role, you’ll lead the team for your assigned accounts, architecting multi-channel, lifecycle-driven journeys that blend content, AEO/SEO, social, and automation into seamless, measurable audience experiences. You’ll pair strategic vision with creative direction, partnering closely with our creative, content, and technical teams to bring every strategy to life. Every project you touch will have a clear vision, a solid plan, and the impact to back it up.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You bring 6–8 years of experience developing and leading digital marketing strategies across multiple channels, ideally in an agency, start-up, or consultancy environment.

  • You have a clear career storyline of marketing wins that you owned, and can back them up with data.

  • You have expertise in at least two core marketing practice areas—such as lifecycle marketing, social media, AEO/SEO, content marketing, email, or automation—and a strong understanding of how all channels work together.

  • You have experience in lifecycle and loyalty marketing, including email and app-based experiences; familiarity with Braze is a strong plus.

  • You know how to use different types of data—behavioral, engagement, and transactional signals—to power personalized user experiences, not just to measure them after the fact.

  • You have owned client accounts or major strategic workstreams, from discovery through execution, and can confidently steer direction while adapting to changing priorities.

  • You are a player-coach. You can jump right into the action and follow the plot even when it gets complex.

  • You are skilled at leading client conversations that uncover insights, clarify objectives, and set a clear course toward measurable results.

  • You’re comfortable translating complex ideas into clear, persuasive strategies for stakeholders, as well as building strategy decks and presenting to senior executives.

  • You build trust quickly, balancing strategic vision with a practical, results-oriented approach.

  • You collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to bring strategies to life.

  • You are organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment without losing sight of the details.

  • You’re comfortable learning new tools like Adobe Analytics, Figma, Profound, and Semrush, and you’re always exploring new platforms that can help us work smarter and deliver better outcomes.

  • You are comfortable owning project success, being the go-to person for client questions and concerns, and briefing your strategies to cross-functional teams.

  • You think like a creative strategist as well as a channel strategist—you can brief and direct creative work rooted in strategic intent, and evaluate concepts against objectives even when you're not the one producing the creative.

  • You build trust quickly, balancing strategic vision with a practical, results-oriented approach. When a question is raised, you’re the first to speak up and problem-solve!

  • Ideally, you have marketing experience in regulated healthcare or finance contexts, showing innovation and growth within large matrixed organizations.

  • You're patient—you understand that your work may not see the light of day for months or even years, and you stay motivated by the long game.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead the marketing strategy for your assigned client accounts, ensuring all initiatives are aligned with business objectives and audience needs.

  • Drive client discovery sessions to surface insights, clarify goals, and define meaningful performance metrics.

  • Develop cross-channel marketing strategies that integrate content, AEO/SEO, and automation into cohesive, results-driven experiences.

  • Collaborate with other strategists to ensure your account strategies align with Terra’s broader strategic approach and best practices.

  • Partner with content, creative, and technical teams to translate strategy into effective campaigns, providing direction and feedback throughout execution.

  • Provide strategic creative direction—brief creative teams, review concepts and campaign plans against brand standards and objectives, and ensure execution stays true to the strategic vision.

  • Monitor performance, surface insights from data, and make strategic adjustments to maximize impact.

  • Stay ahead of market trends and evolving customer behaviors, continuously spotting opportunities and threats.

  • Contribute to Terra’s own marketing and strategic initiatives, bringing forward new ideas and recommendations.

  • Collaborate with company and department leadership to support Terra’s own branding and marketing efforts, as well as specific sales pursuits.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
