What We're Researching

We're running a paid study on how people interact with everyday digital platforms and complete routine tasks. The goal is to understand user preferences and identify areas where standard interfaces can be improved. This research directly informs how we design more intuitive experiences for a broad audience.

How It Works

During this remote session, you will be guided through a series of short questions and simple digital tasks. You will interact with different interfaces and provide your immediate reactions to what you see. We will ask you to share your thoughts openly as you navigate through each step of the process. Your candid feedback on the overall flow will be captured as you work.

Who This Is For

We welcome everyday consumers and digital product users who are comfortable navigating standard online platforms. There are no specialized technical requirements for this study, making it open to a wide range of participants. If you enjoy sharing your opinions and testing new concepts, this opportunity is a great fit.

What You'll Do
  • Navigate through a set of simple digital tasks on your device

  • Answer questions about your preferences and daily online habits

  • Provide open and honest feedback on the overall user experience

  • Describe your thought process out loud while completing activities

Who Should Apply
  • Comfortable using standard web and mobile applications

  • Ability to clearly articulate your thoughts and opinions while navigating a task

  • Access to a reliable internet connection and a working microphone

  • Willingness to participate in a remote, guided session

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
