Description

Who We Are:

The 4M story is likely one you haven’t heard before: We are on a mission to unlock access to the world below us, to do for the world below ground what Google Maps did for the world above. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, we are mapping the subsurface infrastructure to make reliable, real-time utility data accessible to the construction industry - completely transforming a traditional industry. We’re a growing startup with 100 employees currently based in Tel Aviv, Israel, and Austin, Texas.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced DevOps Team Lead to join our R&D leadership team. You’ll lead and grow a team of DevOps engineers and own key parts of our stack - including Cloud Infrastructure, CI/CD, Observability, FinOps, and DevSecOps.

This is a leadership and hands-on role reporting to the VP of R&D. You’ll lead by example, actively contributing to your team’s deliverables, and work closely with other R&D leaders to shape our systems and standards as we scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a skilled DevOps team.
  • Take ownership of our AWS-based infrastructure: uptime, resilience, performance.
  • Improve and maintain our CI/CD pipelines for smooth, safe, and fast delivery.
  • Oversee our monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to keep production healthy.
  • Own our FinOps efforts - make sure we scale cost-effectively and with visibility.
  • Lead DevSecOps practices including security infra, identity, access, pipelines, and more.
  • Be a partner to the various R&D teams (Data, Application, Algorithms), helping them build and scale with confidence.
  • Shape and scale the function, team, tools, and practices as the company grows.

Requirements
  • 5+ years in DevOps roles, with at least 1–2 years in a leading capacity.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and IaC tools.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of observability (monitoring, logging, incident response).
  • Familiarity with cloud security fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with cloud cost visibility and resource optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Startup-ready: pusher, self-directed, adaptable, gets things done.

Diverse Perspectives

We know that innovation thrives on teams where diverse points of view come together to solve hard problems. As such, we explicitly seek people that bring diverse life experiences, diverse educational backgrounds, diverse cultures, and diverse work experiences. Please be prepared to share with us how your perspective will bring something unique and valuable to our team.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
