Job Summary :
The Development Manager ensures stewardship and engaged communications with key donors and creates and manages lasting systems to maintain and advance partnerships with a range of foundations, corporations, and individuals.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • 1. Relationship Management:
  • Support the Senior Director to cultivate, maintain, and advance relationships with a range of organizations, institutions, and individuals
  • Develop and support strategic planning for donor engagement and stewardship; track progress to meet goals and deadlines
  • Own portfolio of donors, prospects, and leads, developing and executing on strategies to renew, upgrade and convert donors
  • Oversee the process related to identification and research of new leads, presenting alignment and proposed strategy to Senior Director and CEO. Supervise Development Coordinator

  • 2. Donor Communications:
  • Supports the CEO and Senior Director in creating personalized emails to prospects and donors and serves as lead point of contact for select donors, prospects in portfolio
  • Work closely with GHC’s Communications team to create external facing materials that effectively and compellingly share the impact of GHC
  • Manage quarterly update communications to key prospects, donors and supporters
  • Develop, manage, and execute annual EOY and FY-close solicitation campaigns

  • 3. Board Management:
  • Manage the facilitation of effective quarterly board meetings
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding of Board members
  • Aid in the recruitment of new Board members, conducting background research and collaborating with the CEO, VP of Development in the recruitment management process
  • Engage with the Senior Director and CEO in implementing a robust Board engagement strategy

  • 4. Special Events:
  • Work in partnership with CEO, Senior Director  on devising event strategy
  • Manage the logistics and communications of planning in-person and virtual fundraising events
  • Work with vendors to ensure event success and serve as organizational liaison
  • Recruit and prepare staff volunteers for event support
  • Ensure optimal guest experience

  • 5. Data & Systems:
  • Co-lead management of Salesforce donor database to track donor cultivation and ensure data hygiene and accuracy with GHC’s Grants Manager
  • Optimize Salesforce database to streamline team moves management and lead team adoption
  • Develop and execute donor analytic reports in Salesforce to inform donor strategy

You seek out feedback, adapt to changing priorities, and keep a level head under pressure. You find joy in continuous improvement and are always looking for ways to make systems, events, and engagement more effective and meaningful.
  • An experienced development professional with:
  • 5+ years of experience in development, fundraising, or strategic partnerships, ideally within the nonprofit sector.
  • Proven success in donor cultivation, stewardship, and relationship management
  • Experience supporting board engagement and governance, including meeting planning and member onboarding
  • Strong experience with CRM systems (ideally Salesforce) and data-driven strategy
  • Familiarity with event planning 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
