What We Do

The Mapbox Developer Relations team’s mission is to inspire and equip developers who build with Mapbox Maps, Search, Navigation, and Data products. To achieve this goal, we are focused on creating and sharing exceptional developer resources, including documentation, demos, tutorials, developer playgrounds, helpful tools, training sessions, and more. We also engage with the Mapbox developer community in online spaces and real-world events, and are always looking for ways to make the Mapbox developer experience as smooth as possible and get developers excited and unblocked.


We are looking for a creative and experienced developer evangelist with a focus on mobile app development. The ideal candidate builds and communicates with enthusiasm, is strategically informed by data and customers, and committed to operational excellence and accountability.
This role reports to the Head of Developer Relations.

What You'll Do
  • Work with the Developer Relations team to cultivate a developer community that supports each other in learning how to use the Mapbox platform across a wide range of platforms, use cases, industries, and skill levels.

  • Introduce and engage developers who have similar interests in the Mapbox platform, or related challenges that the platform addresses.

  • Create engaging content, including technical talks, blog posts, demos, and videos that inspire and educate developers to use Mapbox.

  • Support Mapbox product and engineering efforts by sharing what you learn while engaging with developers.

  • Develop programs within Mapbox to enable our product teams to share their work with the developer community.

  • Monitor and cultivate contributions on external developer forums.

  • Set strategic goals and monitor metrics of performance of evangelism activities relative to them.

  • Participate in the development of our documentation site, API playgrounds, product demos, developer tools and libraries,, and other software that supports the Mapbox developer community

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role
  • 2+ years of evangelism/outreach experience in developer communities

  • Experience in modern software development practices, with broad mobile development experience (SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, Flutter, React Native, etc)

  • Engaging technical communicator, with strong written and verbal skills to translate complex technical concepts into simple and intuitive communications.

  • Experience giving talks and developing demos, webinars, videos, and other technical content.

  • Meaningful social presence with engaged followers.

  • Experience helping to grow developer relations functional teams.

  • Skilled relationship builder with both technical and business oriented people, and ready to partner across the organization.

  • Ability to work on multiple technical platforms, from web APIs to geospatial technology and data to mobile SDKs. Experience building and shipping mobile apps with the Mapbox mobile SDKs is preferred.

  • Familiarity with the Mapbox platform and developer experience, including spatial data management, map design, Mapbox APIs, UI/UX patterns, analytics, etc. Experience working on production mobile apps that use the Mapbox mobile SDKs and other Mapbox products is preferred.

  • Experience with the latest AI-assisted coding practices, and well-informed ideas about how best to empower developers building with these AI coding tools.

  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical skills, and proven track record in making data-driven decisions to continually optimize performance and determine future investment.

  • Enthusiasm for the power of Mapbox to drive the future of maps, search, and navigation in web and mobile applications.

Our annual base compensation for this role ranges from $78,200 - $105,800 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
