Title: ISO-NE Community Engagement Manager
Reports To: VP, ISO-NE/PJM Development
Location: Boston, MA preferred
Description: Responsible for leading community engagement and public outreach efforts for Flatiron Energy’s utility-scale battery storage projects across New England. The right candidate will play a critical role in building trust with local stakeholders, supporting project development activities, and ensuring transparent, equitable engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and execution of community engagement strategies across development, construction, and operations phases
- Identify, engage, and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders, including residents, civic groups, NGOs, and local leaders
- Plan and execute public engagement activities such as open houses, meet-and-greets, and community events
- Coordinate targeted outreach efforts, including mailers, door-to-door engagement, local paid media, and digital communications
- Develop and maintain public-facing project materials, including presentations, fact sheets, FAQs, webpages, and newsletters
- Support project managers in interactions with local and state government officials, permitting hearings, media engagement, and negotiation of community agreements
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in public policy, communications, political science, environmental studies, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in community engagement, public affairs, political campaigns, or grassroots organizing; preference for experience in the energy or infrastructure sector
- Familiarity with New England municipal processes, permitting, and local government engagement
- Experience coordinating outreach across diverse stakeholder groups and cross-sector partners
- Experience supporting public meetings, community agreements, and media or press engagement
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Valid driver’s license required
- Strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, creativity, and leadership skills
- Understanding of energy markets, particularly ISO-NE, NYISO, and PJM
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail
Compensation and Benefits:
- Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
- Salary: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
