Company Description: Pathstone is a growing wealth management firm serving ultra-high net worth families, single family offices, foundations, and endowments. We are united by a clear purpose: to help clients pursue their Preferred Life — with clarity, confidence, and long-term support across the full landscape of wealth and well-being.

Our services include investment advisory, as well as integrated planning and coordination across key areas such as tax strategy, risk management guidance, wealth and estate planning support, philanthropic planning, and family governance — helping clients navigate complexity and make informed decisions aligned with their goals.

With more than 20 office locations and over $100 billion in client assets under management, advisory, administration, and related services, Pathstone has expanded significantly over the past five years, reflecting sustained momentum and continued investment in our team and platform.

Pathstone is committed to making a meaningful difference for clients and their families, while fostering a supportive, purpose-driven environment for our professionals. Team members are encouraged to pursue their interests and contribute to the firm’s culture through committees and initiatives that help shape our shared mission.

Our people are our greatest asset, and we offer a competitive, flexible benefits program designed to support life both inside and outside of work. Benefits include comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, flexible spending options, flexible PTO, life insurance, education support, a 401(k) plan, parental leave, and more.

The Role: Within our team, the Designer is a high-range, brand-led generalist capable of delivering across a wide variety of needs while maintaining coherence across the Pathstone brand experience. This role flexes across formats, contexts, and problems—bringing strong judgment, craft, and adaptability to everything—from campaigns to tools to experiences.

What You’ll Bring:

We are looking for passionate people who love to envision, frame, design, and realize meaningful brands and experiences. If you think you might be a good fit, you'll find yourself in the following description:

  • You love to design—the process, conversation, big ideas, mediums, tools, possibilities, and details.
  • Your process is guided by an insatiable curiosity. You are constantly searching for answers rather than waiting for them to find you.
  • You love to understand the people at the center of brands and experiences, placing humanity at the core of the design conversation.
  • You think and work in systems, identifying ideas and threads that tie ideas and experiences together.
  • You work across mediums to communicate your ideas, bringing your work to life through design explorations, experiments, and prototypes.
  • You embrace emerging channels, platforms, technologies, tools, and best practices— finding new and innovative ways to elevate your work.
  • You love to share and build upon your ideas, always looking for new ways to collaborate with your team and clients.

What You’ll Do:

  • Brand-Consistent Design Execution
    • Design across multiple formats, including:
      • Campaign assets
      • Advisor and client-facing materials
      • Presentations and tools
      • Experience and environmental elements
    • Ensure all work aligns with brand principles and standards.
  • Problem-Solving Through Design
    • Translate ambiguous needs into clear, elegant solutions.
    • Balance creativity with restraint and appropriateness for UHNW audiences.
  • Collaboration & Support
    • Work closely with the Head of Brand to deliver high-priority work.
    • Partner with Story & Editorial, Founders’ Studio, and Digital as needed.

What You’ll Need:

  • 4 to 6 years of design experience producing tangible work
  • An innate ability to understand and frame design challenges and opportunities
  • A proven track record collaborating within small teams to create work
  • The ability to empathize with an audience, user, or client
  • Evidence of systematic design thinking over the course of a project
  • Illustrated experience working with the following tools:
    • Figma
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
    • Familiarity with emerging AI tools in the design space
    • Comfort with other, emerging contemporary design tools, as well as a willingness to learn new tools
    • Experience with motion design is a plus.
  • Project and time management experience across a range of projects
  • A bachelor’s or other applicable advanced degree

You also come equipped with all the skills and knowledge we would expect in a well-rounded person, including solid communication skills, a firm grasp of the written word, and the ability to manage your time well.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Design work is versatile, thoughtful, and on-brand.
  • Complex needs are handled with confidence and speed.
  • Stakeholders trust the designer’s judgment and taste.

Pay Transparency:

Pathstone’s expected starting base compensation range for the position as of the time of this posting is $85,000 - $100,000 per year. What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
