For over 40 years, our designs have elevated the bath and kitchen experience, with exquisite fittings, fixtures, hardware and more. We strive to be participants in exceptional design moments not just through our products, but through how our company name shows up in the world at large.

We empower our associates with extensive training, career growth opportunities, competitive salaries, bonus potential and a comprehensive benefits package including medical/dental/vision, and 401k retirement savings plan. The Role

As a Design Consultant, you’ll take ownership of your book of business, ensuring profitability and growth. In this role, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to clients (architects, designers, and contractors) recommending tailored solutions with exceptional professionalism, service, and integrity. You will build strong, collaborative relationships that not only generate sales but also foster brand loyalty and future business. Based in our Boston showroom, you’ll work with architects, interior designers, contractors, and discerning homeowners on exceptional residential projects throughout Boston and the surrounding market.

As a brand ambassador, you’ll embody our values, embrace an entrepreneurial spirit and fearless sales execution. With a passion for the Waterworks brand, you’ll confidently execute strategies that place our clients at the center of every interaction.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about achieving sales goals and motivated by the opportunity to build lasting client relationships, with an appreciation for luxury design, craftsmanship, and highly personalized client service.

The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday at the Boston showroom, with time spent both in the showroom and developing relationships throughout the local market.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Market Waterworks brand and products to your assigned Waterworks client list, and client leads provided by the company. Generally, all marketing is to the trade.
  • Meet or exceed assigned marketing, quote, order and sales goals.
  • Cultivate and expand relationships with clients by deeply understanding their needs and presenting compelling solutions tailored to their projects and design vision.
  • Actively pursue new clients through social media, networking, territory outreach, and leveraging existing contacts, while building a strong presence within the local architecture and design community.
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan that generates leads, project quotes, and sales.
  • Meet with clients in their offices, virtually or in-showroom to confidently pitch Waterworks products to secure orders.
  • Manage all phases of client projects including initial meetings, product specification and selection, providing quote and pricing, following up to close sale and take payment.
  • Provide monthly/weekly updates to your manager: pipeline and project status, marketing activities using CRM.
  • Provide a superior client experience to enhance long-term relationships, brand loyalty, and increase market share
  • Actively participate in industry and showroom events; i.e. networking events, CEU presentations, lunch and learns, etc.
  • Other projects and activities as needed to drive sales and/or grow market share.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of outside/inside sales and/or business development experience in the high-end, luxury brand environment; experience in design, interiors, luxury home, architecture & design, kitchen & bath, furnishings, lighting, tile, stone, or another high-touch client environment is highly valued.
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales and marketing quotas and goals.
  • Success with developing new business and cultivating long-term client relationships.
  • Strong appreciation for design, craftsmanship, materials, and the details that distinguish a luxury product and client experience.
  • Exceptional communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Digitally savvy.
  • Ability to listen and translate client’s needs into sales
  • Strong persuasion, negotiation skills and the ability to influence others; close sales transactions/deals.
  • Self-motivated and possess the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; CRM and other sales tracking tools.
  • Plumbing and/or tile industry experience preferred, though a strong luxury sales, design, or relationship-building background is equally compelling.
  • Ability to market outside of the showroom up to 50% of week and actively develop relationships within the local design community.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
