Position Overview:

MSIG USA is a quickly growing, an A+ insurance carrier that specializes in Casualty, Property, Marine, Cyber, Financial Lines, and Credit insurance.  Delegated Authority business is one of our fastest growing segments.

We are seeking an experienced actuary to lead pricing and portfolio underwriting initiatives for delegated authority programs and specialty commercial lines. This role combines technical actuarial expertise with strategic business partnership to ensure competitive yet profitable pricing across our P&C portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Pricing Strategy & Model Development:

  • Evaluate existing and new programs using actuarial techniques to assess portfolio profitability, performing deep dives into detailed segmentation
  • Drive innovation by designing, programming, and maintaining essential tools for pricing and portfolio monitoring.
  • Conduct structural analysis and provide actionable recommendations based on pricing insights to optimize program performance.
  • Recommend changes to program structure, including share, attachment point, terms, and commission structure

New program due diligence: New and renewal relationships

  • Collaborate with our Delegated Underwriting team to identify new Delegated Managing General Agent/ Underwriter (MGA/MGU) relationships
  • Assess MGA/U books of business and management team for pricing, claims handling, financial, operational, and technology quality, including the MGA/U’s insurance product’s value proposition and market fit
  • Conduct actuarial modelling to recommend appropriate sliding scale commission structures, and accruals/ payments based on contract term
  • As needed, support due diligence projects for MGA/U mergers and acquisition (M&A) activity and/or divestment

Portfolio Monitoring & Insights:

  • Track portfolio rate changes, pricing adequacy, and shifts in underwriting mix for new and renewal business, providing insights to guide Program Managers in making informed decisions.

Data and Technology

  • Lead data business requirements and testing for actuarial related analyses for our new data lake
  • Evolve bordereaux ingestion approaches and technology to modernize data capture, tracking and analysis.  Become MSIG USA’s business domain leader on delegated premium, exposure, and loss data use to support the business unit.
  • Drive automation of existing and new analyses into model updates, analytics, and dashboards

Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Partner with underwriting, product development, and program managers to guide pricing decisions.
  • Provide trusted council and advice to Delegated Underwriting Leadership on difficult Go/No-Go decisions, as well as to the CFO on financial accruals and peg loss ratios
  • Act as a liaison with Program Managers, supporting negotiations on terms and structures by leveraging pricing analysis and strategic insights.
  • Mentor junior team members within Actuarial, the Delegated Authority business unit, and business partners in Finance, Claims, Underwriting, and Technology
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • ACAS or FCAS designation (or near completion).
  • 5-10+ years of P&C actuarial experience, including program or specialty lines pricing.
  • Strong proficiency in actuarial software and programming (Python, R, SQL, VBA preferred).
  • Experience with delegated authority programs and MGA pricing models is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Competitive Compensation Package includes:

Competitive salary commensurate with experience along with a performance-based bonus.

SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $150,000–$200,000 per year. This is a good-faith assessment of the salary range for this position only. In determining the actual salary within this range, MSIG USA will consider a candidate’s relevant experience, location, and other job-related factors.
