Job Description SummaryReporting to the FLIGHT DECK Leader of Defense & Systems (D&S), the Defense Engines Supplier Partnership FLIGHT DECK Leader will facilitate and lead improvement activity in partnership with our defense engines supplier teams at their locations. The Defense Engines Supplier Partnership FLIGHT DECK Leader will also help develop and partner with other FLIGHT DECK leaders in support of the overall FLIGHT DECK transformation, embedding FLIGHT DECK fundamentals into the supplier culture and driving a true continuous improvement mindset.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive radical prioritization of initiatives and resources, to execute on short-term and longer terms business needs (and aligned with FLIGHT DECK roadmap).
  • Drive strategy for KPI performance improvement and accountability and aligning resources in support.
  • Help build a vision of the FLIGHT DECK transformation across the supplier’s future state and drive 1-year vision.
  • Drives results via the FLIGHT DECK operating system, prioritizing Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Demonstrates FLIGHT DECK capabilities across the spectrum from the tactical (deployment and application of principles, concepts, and methods) to the strategic (a transformation that deeply impacts a key value stream).
  • Coach and develop team members at all levels of the organization to help them build FLIGHT DECK skills and become FLIGHT DECK practitioners.
  • Create and implement change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance. Works to drive faster adoption, higher ultimate utilization and greater proficiency of the changes that impact employees in the organization to increase benefit realization, value creation, ROI and the achievement of results and outcomes.
  • Partner closely with other divisions/functions to prioritize and improve critical, cross-functional processes across GE Aerospace.
  • Manage and drive kaizen process to enable continuous improvement across the enterprise.
  • Operate as a subject matter expert, providing coaching and support to senior leaders, improving problem solving capabilities and outcomes.
  • Support the supplier functions and overall P&L in the acceleration of problem-solving application.
  • Share best practices across different segments of GE Aerospace D&S.
  • Lead, develop and mentor a team of FLIGHT DECK leaders, as assigned.
  • Teach FLIGHT DECK tools, create standard work, support the FLIGHT DECK organization in fostering continuous improvement internally, raising the bar on FLIGHT DECK Leadership across D&S.
     

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in global & matrix environments
  • Open to work remotely, however, must be willing to travel (domestic and international) to facilitate FLIGHT DECK (lean) problem solving, Kaizen, and effectively operate as a trusted advisor to key supplier stakeholders (50% to 70%).

Desired Characteristics and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality improvement, and people leadership and 5+years of experience in FLIGHT DECK or operations leadership FLIGHT DECK methodology.
  • Experience facilitating 5-day Kaizen events, including preparation, coaching stakeholders in framing the problem statement, facilitating the session to identify opportunities and drive decision-making, assigning ownership, and managing follow-up.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with production teams to implement FLIGHT DECK methodologies, continuous improvement tools, and practices including daily management, visual controls, standard work, and policy deployment.
  • Ability to drive improvement strategies while coaching teams through problem solving techniques.
  • FLIGHT DECK training or equivalent quality training.
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying FLIGHT DECK in a variety of transactional or shop floor situations.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization and facilitating across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and written communication skills.
  • Results orientation – must deliver sustainable results.
  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a senior leader perspective and leverage FLIGHT DECK to drive improvement.
  • Collaborative, team orientation – knows when to lead and when to follow.
  • Customer focused and demonstrates a high sense of urgency.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
