The Analog Garage is our corporate R&D center with a mission to empower Analog Devices by pioneering breakthrough technologies.

The Bioelectronic Platforms Group is applying leading edge circuit design, device design, and nanoscale fabrication towards the next breakthrough in Life Sciences platforms for the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries.

In this role you will lead advanced semiconductor process development, heterogenous integration, and packaging for consumables in novel Life Sciences platforms.  You will apply expertise in semiconductor technologies and knowledge of the vendor ecosystem to develop, prototype, and scale innovative biological sensing and actuation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team to define electronic, mechanical, fluidic, chemical, and biological requirements
  • Design novel process and packaging solutions addressing the requirements
  • Select process and manufacturing technologies to realize the solutions
  • Engage vendor ecosystem to deliver rapid prototypes
  • Drive scale-up to mass manufacturing, working with internal and external processes to achieve high yield and low cost

Minimum qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials Science, Physics, or related engineering disciplines (or master's/bachelor's degree with additional industrial experience)
  • Minimum 3 years industrial experience in a semiconductor process or packaging development role (or 7 years with master's degree, or 10 years with bachelor's degree)
  • Knowledge and experience with semiconductor process and packaging technologies and vendor ecosystem
  • Broad working knowledge of industry-standard substrates, metals, dielectrics, semiconductors, polymers, and surface coatings
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team environment

Nice to have

  • Prior delivery of prototypes addressing 3 or more requirements such as electrical, mechanical, fluidic, chemical and biological
  • Knowledge and experience with semiconductor cleanroom equipment, processes, and vendor ecosystem
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical rapid-prototyping equipment, technologies, and vendor ecosystem such as PCB, 3D printing, laser cutting, milling, routing, etc.
  • Broader knowledge of materials with potential for future integration in process- and packaging-tools
  • Experience co-packaging electronics with microfluidic systems or automated-liquid-handler compatible systems
  • Experience with display (TFT) technologies, processes, and vendors
  • Strong hands-on technical skills, but also maintains a research orientation and is interested to keep up with scientific and industrial literature
