Are you passionate about swimming and creating a positive environment for youth and families? The Beverly YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic Aquatics Program Monitor who is committed to our core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Aquatics Program Monitors play an important role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming atmosphere in our aquatics spaces. You’ll support swimmers, families, coaches, and instructors by assisting with pool deck activities and swim team programs—helping ensure a fun and engaging experience for everyone.

💦 What You’ll Do

Participant Engagement & Safety Support

  • Greet swimmers and families in a friendly and helpful manner

  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment on the pool deck and during programs

  • Observe activities and promote safe behavior, alerting staff when needed

Pool Area Support

  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free pool deck

  • Assist with setting up, retrieving, and storing swim equipment

Swim Team Support (if applicable)

  • Provide in-water support under the direction of coaches or instructors

  • Demonstrate basic swimming drills and skills when appropriate

  • Encourage and assist swimmers as they build confidence and technique

  • Support coaches and athletes during practices and swim meets

Teamwork & Communication

  • Follow direction from lifeguards, coaches, and supervisors

  • Build positive relationships with participants and fellow staff

  • Maintain a supportive and team-oriented attitude

QualificationsQualifications
  • Must be at least 14 years of age

  • Must hold or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification

  • Must be familiar with or willing to learn YMCA Emergency Action Plans and protocols

  • Schedule:  Monday–Friday: 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM & Sunday: 9:00 AM – 12:45 PM

 Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Ability to retrieve and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds

  • Position requires bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking, including over uneven and wet surfaces

  • Visual and auditory ability to recognize and respond to critical situations

  • Physical ability to react quickly and appropriately in emergencies
