As a Database Administrator at Wilcore Technologies, you will play a key role in ensuring the resilience, security, and performance of mission-critical data environments supporting Veterans and federal partners. You will leverage modern cloud technologies and automation to maintain reliable, scalable infrastructure while advancing Zero Trust standards and VA compliance.
What you'll be doing:
- Manage and optimize cloud-based and distributed databases, ensuring strong performance and availability.
- Administer DynamoDB and related AWS data services, including monitoring and tuning (RCUs/WCUs).
- Implement and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes for continuity of operations.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and VA compliance, including Zero Trust and governance standards.
- Monitor and troubleshoot EC2 instances, resolving performance or security issues.
- Manage certificates, encryption keys, and secure credentials throughout their lifecycle.
- Identify and resolve system errors or performance gaps, escalating when needed.
- Use Ansible and other IaC practices to automate key rotation, configuration, and consistency.
- Query and analyze large datasets using AWS Athena to support operational insights.
- Use Broadcom Agent Tooling to improve access control and strengthen Zero Trust alignment.
- Partner with engineering, DevOps, and cybersecurity teams to enhance cloud architecture, automation, and security.
What you’ll bring:
- 5+ years of experience administering databases in cloud or hybrid environments.
- Proven experience with AWS cloud services, including DynamoDB, EC2, IAM, Athena, CloudWatch, and related tooling.
- Strong expertise in performance optimization, monitoring, root-cause analysis, and incident response.
- Experience working in regulated environments, ideally federal, healthcare, financial, or public sector.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust architectures, governance controls, encryption, secure credential handling, and audit/compliance frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with automation/orchestration tools such as Ansible.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment, supporting critical production systems with precision and accountability.
