Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Database Administrator 1 on the Platform Engineering team. Platform Data Services is the team that Builds, Manages, and Maintains Choice Hotels data platforms and services. As a key member of Platform Data Services, you will provide administration for database infrastructure, data services, and management systems as well as support Choice end users including, developers, engineers, and technical support staff.

Your Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, documents, and maintains multiple database platforms and data services. 
• Provides support for the Data Service environment to internal & external teams.
• Proactively monitors database system operations and activity.
• Provides performance tuning and optimization recommendations.
• Assists with disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation.
• Troubleshoots and resolves performance issues and critical incidents.
• Implements and maintains security standards and best practices.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies   

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience
• At least 1-2 years’ experience in Database Administration or Engineering.  
• Experience in one or more Database Platforms (MySQL, PostGres, DynamoDB)
• Experience in one or more Data Services (Elasticache, Athena, Quicksight, Glue)

Your Team   

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Manager, Platform Data Services.  You will have 7 peer teammate(s) and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Field/Remote — Select roles designated as field/remote will require associates to work from a home office, connecting virtually with Choice team members and leadership on Zoom, with possible required travel depending on the role.
