The Business Lines Profitability Tools team within Global Retail Markets (GRM) Business Lines (BL) Economics is looking for a new team member! This team creates, supports and maintains new business tools that provide the insight and guidance to the broader US Business Lines organization to deliver consistent target returns. The role will be a lead voice in defining the methodology, process and on-going maintenance of the tools that influence daily business decisions. The team works cross-functionally with every department in GRM Product, as well as many other partner teams in Finance, Actuarial, Distribution, & Underwriting. This role will report directly to the manager of the Profitability Tools team in BL Profitability Analytics.
**This is a ranged posting, Assistant Director or Director. Position offered will be at manager discretion based on skills and experience. **
Responsibilities:

  • Leads the maintenance and updates of New Business tools aimed at improving Business Lines Profitability, serving as the subject matter expert and business lead for the continued roll-out of the tools for additional lines of business
  • Own the development of New Business Tool Key Performance Indicators by line of business, benchmark results and disseminate analysis once launched to multiple stakeholders
  • Leveraging multiple inputs from various teams, develop quarterly New Business Loss Ratio forecast, own the maintenance of PowerBI Dashboard, and lead communication of results to senior leaders


In this role, you can expect to:

  • Develops analyses based on complex data for a particular business unit/function.
  • Quantifies the competitive performance of the business, evaluates potential operational changes, and designs new approaches and methodologies to solve business problems or improve analytical efficiency.
  • Produces meaningful observations and recommendations through synthesizing data from internal and external sources.
  • Utilizes advanced statistical techniques. May regularly utilize, update and adapt predictive modeling tools and/or focus on the application of the tools.
  • Leads own work stream and may manage projects of moderate to high complexity.
  • Conducts modeling/analytical work which directly impacts profitability, growth, and/or customer satisfaction outcomes.
  • Presents findings / recommendations and leads discussions with senior leadership at the department or functional level.
  • Serves as a resource to less experienced analysts.


Preferred experience includes:

  • Strong Excel capabilities and baseline knowledge of SAS (with the ability to query data). Will consider baseline knowledge of querying in SQL with willingness to learn SAS.
  • PowerBI experience is preferred, but not a requirement.
  • Actuarial experience is not required, but experience with actuarial concepts is preferred.


Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or any other quantitative field plus a minimum 5-7 years of applied business / non-academic experience preferred.
  • For non-Master ' s Degree candidates, Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 7-10 years of applied business/non-academic experience, or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of developing and applying modeling to business problems.
  • Deep knowledge of data sources, tools and business drivers.
  • Ability to apply more advanced analytical concepts to improve business outcomes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (VBA, macros, scripts, formulas, data visualization, etc.),
  • PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (SAS, Emblem).
  • Must have good planning, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
