FocusKPI is looking for a Data Scientist & Engineer (SAP) to work on our company’s internal projects.
Our internal team is looking for a Data Scientist with a Data Engineering background and prior experience with SAP skills. This person needs to develop and optimize data architectures that support business intelligence, predictive analytics, and AI/ML applications. This role involves designing and structuring data pipelines that connect SAP, Databricks, and Microsoft CRM, enabling trend analysis, forecasting models, and AI-driven insights. The focus is not just on ETL pipelines but on building a feature store rather than traditional data models. 
This role requires a deep understanding of how data should be organized to support efficient reporting, historical trend analysis, and advanced analytics.
Given our global operations, fluency in both English and Chinese is highly beneficial.
Work Location: Remote - anywhere in the US
Duration: 9+ months contract
Pay Range: $50+/hr (on basis of experience level)

Responsibilities:

  • Use machine learning and AI techniques (e.g., predictive models, uplift models, personalization models, and NLP tools) to solve complex problems and drive business decisions
  • Build a data pipeline for model development, including gathering and building datasets, cleaning messy data, identifying assumptions, and designing a feedback loop on data needs
  • Work in an agile, collaborative environment, partnering with other data scientists, engineers, and database administrators of all backgrounds and disciplines to bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of predicting behaviors
  • Assist Senior Strategy Analysts and Senior Data Scientists in project management of strategic initiatives
  • Implement and validate predictive models as well as create and maintain statistical models with a focus on big data
  • Write comprehensive and accurate model development documentation; create presentations and financial models to communicate new strategic ideas for internal departments
  • Explain complex modeling approaches in simple terms and develop compelling narratives that connect modeling results with business problems
  • Solve analytical problems, and effectively communicate methodologies and results both in writing and verbally
  • Build business intelligence dashboards for internal leaders and stakeholders to track key performance indicators
  • Partner with cross-functional team to streamline data science solutions
Qualifications:
  • PhD or master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Data Science
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in data science, building hands-on ML models, measurement, marketing strategy, and data analytics
  • Strong proficiency in data processing using Python and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn
  • Proficient in SQL and relational databases
  • Experience working with large datasets
  • Experience developing natural language processing (NLP) models
  • Experience with MLOps (e.g., Airflow)
  • In-depth understanding of Machine Learning and AI algorithms, and model evaluation
  • Good understanding of SAP and CRM data. Experience with SAP would be a huge plus
  • Expertise in SAP data structures, including SAP HANA, SAP BW, OData, BAPI, and IDocs, is preferred
  • Strong understanding of workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Azure Data Factory) to automate and schedule data tasks.
  • Experience with Project management
  • Proficiency with data warehouses, cloud computing, data storage, and ETLs.
  • Familiarity with building data visualization dashboards
  • Bilingual proficiency in Chinese and English is highly preferred.
  • Strong can-do attitude and willingness to take ownership
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex business requests through a blend of technical expertise, logical, and creative thinking
  • Biz acumen, communication (both oral & written), and storytelling skills
  • A learning and growth mindset
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technology and apply it to achieve business objectives
  • They need to be proactive and have a sense of urgency.
