About the Team/Role

WEX is in search of a Data Informatics Analyst 3 to join the Sales Center of Excellence (SCOE) Sales and Marketing Analytics team. SCOE Analytics is tasked with turning complex data into tangible insights to help drive the success and growth of our financial payment solution products, clients, and our company.

Data is an integral part of the WEX decision-making process. As a key member of the SCOE team, the Data Informatics Analyst 3 is responsible for the architecture and execution of audience creation for our evolving marketing automation ecosystem. This person will lead data solutioning for high-volume marketing projects, drive the strategic migration to our Customer Data Platform, and serve as the technical bridge between our commercial groups and platform teams.

This is a multi-faceted, critical position and an opportunity to be part of a highly technical analytics team. The ideal candidate for this role is a proactive, creative, and innovative thinker who can navigate complex data landscapes—from legacy home-grown extensions to modern CDP architectures—to enable scalable, personalized customer journeys.

WEX is seeking a Data Informatics Analyst 3 to join our Sales Center of Excellence (SCOE) Analytics team. Our mission is to transform complex data into the tangible insights that drive the growth of our financial payment solutions and the success of our global clients.

In this critical role, you will lead the architecture and execution of audience segmentation within our evolving marketing automation ecosystem. You will serve as the technical bridge between commercial and platform teams, driving the strategic migration to our Customer Data Platform (CDP) and designing data solutions for high-volume marketing initiatives.

We are looking for a proactive, innovative thinker who can navigate complex data landscapes—ranging from legacy systems to modern CDP architectures—to enable scalable, personalized customer journeys

How you'll make an impact

  • Take the lead role on audience identification, analysis, segmentation,  technical data solutioning and query execution for day-to-day projects across our lines of business.

  • Act as a strategic advisor to commercial stakeholders before the build begins, helping them define the target audience based on potential upside and technical limitations

  • Champion the "shift and lift" of existing email automations from home-grown data extensions to robust, scalable audiences in the Customer Data Platform (CDP) to reduce risk and enable rapid evolution.

  • Proactively investigate data quality and availability before campaigns launch to potential null or conflicting data across systems.

  • Partner with Customer Engagement + Experience (CE+E) and Marketing Automation Technology Solutions (MATS) during discovery sessions to identify opportunities for advanced use cases that leverage CDP capabilities.

  • Execute on key initiatives like Customer Acquisition by leveraging combinations of internal and external data sources to trigger and personalize engagement, such as expanding Abandoned App experiences.

  • Translate business needs into technical requirements, working with the Customer Data Platform team to build segmentations while leveraging a consolidated pipeline view of automation experiences across stakeholders.

  • Explain technical concepts—like the benefits of CDP-based data extensions versus legacy methods—to non-technical stakeholders in marketing and sales.

Experience you'll bring

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience. A blended education in STEM (for the technical side) and business/creative disciplines (for the analytical side) is ideal.

  • Proven track record of building and managing audiences for marketing campaigns, specifically within Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a Customer Data Platform (Salesforce Data Cloud aka Data 360 is a plus).

  • Strong SQL skills for querying and segmenting data, with experience in data warehousing and familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake).

  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability; the ability to take unstructured business requests and ideas and work independently to drive projects to conclusions.

  • Strong skills in performance analytics to measure the success of audiences and campaigns, ensuring data integrity and accuracy in targeting.

  • Strong knowledge of customer data within Salesforce platforms, specifically Salesforce Core (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud) and Marketing Cloud.

  • Ability to extract raw data, analyze it outside the platform (e.g., via Excel or BI tools), and present clear, actionable insights to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with identity resolution, segmentation, and suppression logic to ensure data accuracy for marketing use cases.

  • Experience supporting areas of business responsible for revenue generation (Marketing, Sales, Product) and working alongside data platform teams to define requirements.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where data content and connectivity are constantly growing, with the ability to pivot between day-to-day execution and long-term strategic planning.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
