OUR  MISSION

Imagine building a better healthcare journey for patients with cancer, where individuals and their loved ones feel seen, supported, and heard by their care team – both in and out of the clinic. Where fast access to high-quality care is the norm, not the exception. Where patients have access to a care navigator to guide them through their diagnosis and trusted support all along the way.

At Thyme Care, we share a passion for transforming the cancer care experience – not just for patients but also for their caregivers and loved ones, as well as those delivering and paying for their care. Today, Thyme Care is known predominantly as a cancer care navigation company enabling value-based cancer care; in the next few years, we will become a nationally recognized technology-driven and provider-centric care delivery model, reshaping the landscape of cancer care access, delivery, and experience. Our commitment runs deep—we're not satisfied with the status quo but determined to redefine it.

To make this happen, we’re building a diverse team of problem solvers and critical thinkers to drive innovation and shape the future of healthcare. If you share our vision and want to be part of something truly meaningful, we want to hear from you. Together, we can revolutionize cancer care and make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Data Engineer on the Data Platform team, you’ll help design, build, and maintain the systems and tooling that power Thyme Care’s data ecosystem. You’ll collaborate closely with data analysts, data scientists, and healthcare actuaries to enable accurate, efficient, and scalable data access across the company.

You’ll work on a blend of platform engineering and data pipeline development—owning key systems that ensure our data is reliable, observable, and actionable.

In your first six weeks, you will:

  • Ramp up on Thyme Care’s data platform architecture, pipelines, and tooling.
  • Own the execution and delivery of your first project, while becoming familiar with Thyme Care’s development processes.
  • Shadow our on-call rotation, helping to triage new alerts and maintain the health of our data infrastructure

In your first six months, you will:

  • Play a critical role in migrating our existing tooling and infrastructure from Postgres to a new data warehouse.
  • Build and improve workflow orchestration using Dagster to ensure reliability and observability of our data processes.
  • Being developing internal tooling that empowers analysts, scientists, and actuaries to work more efficiently with our data.
  • Work with our platform engineers and data team to scope experiments and new product ideas.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have worked as a data or platform engineer in a modern data stack environment, ideally in a fast-moving, early-stage or growth-stage company.
  • You have built, deployed, and maintained dbt data pipelines. You have strong SQL and Python skills.
  • You have experience building workflow orchestration in tools like Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect.
  • You’re comfortable iterating quickly to ship MVPs, and you know how to take a project from a loosely scoped idea to a fully realized feature.

Nice to have, but not required:

  • You have hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and/or Terraform.
  • You’ve built internal tools for data teams or contributed to shared data infrastructure.
  • You have worked in healthcare or other regulated data environments.

WHAT LEADS TO SUCCESS

Act with our members in mind. Thyme Care’s mission matters deeply to you. You are passionate about seeing your work in action and solving meaningful problems. You are eager to build products that serve our members, no matter how glamorous.
Comfort with ambiguity. You have worked previously in startups, and are comfortable with scaling businesses and fast-paced environments. You understand that rapid changes to the business, strategy, organization, and priorities are par for the course.
Commitment to inclusivity. You care deeply about building an inclusive culture at Thyme Care. You recognize a history of inequity in tech and believe that we must build a team that reflects the diversity of the population we serve.
Security mindset. Protecting member data is a first priority at Thyme Care. You are comfortable reasoning about the security implications of the changes you make and know when to seek expert advice from our virtual CISO.

OUR VALUES

At Thyme Care, our core values guide us in everything we do: Act with our members in mind, Move with purpose, and Seek diverse perspectives. They anchor our business decisions, including how we grow, the products we make, and the paths we choose—or don’t choose.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Thyme Care. Individual pay decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Thyme Care employees. The base salary for this role is $153,000 to $170,000. The salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired at another level.

We recognize a history of inequality in healthcare. We’re here to challenge the status quo and create a culture of inclusion through the care we give and the company we build. We embrace and celebrate a diversity of perspectives in reflection of our members and the members we serve. We are an equal-opportunity employer.

Be cautious of recruitment fraud, and always confirm that communications are coming from an official Thyme Care email.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
