Chewy is seeking a highly motivated, goal-oriented, Data Engineer III in our Boston, MA location.  The team is growing and if you are equally passionate about supply chain, transportation, management information systems, e-commerce, and career growth, an opportunity at Chewy may be an excellent match! You will be involved in many aspects of building the business and will not be limited by the small-minded bureaucracy typically found in larger companies.  We are looking for someone who is eager to join the Chewy Team!

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field with equivalent experience.
  • Data engineering experience, with a strong focus on integrating data and pipeline construction in cloud environments and enterprise data warehouses like Snowflake
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in SQL and programming languages such as Python; familiarity with AWS Glue and technologies like Spark and Kafka.
  • Skilled at leading projects
  • Innovative and Analytical Approach: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies and changing business requirements
  • Advanced Programming Proficiency in Python
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in related domains like e-commerce, retail, or startup environments
  • Certifications: AWS Developer or Data Analytics certifications
  • BI and Analytics Tools: Experience with BI tools Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Experience working on Graph databases like AWS Neptune or Neo4j is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build data-pipelines across the breadth of Chewy systems to enable insights across Pet-parent's engagement, customer experience, inventory systems, product and catalog systems, campaign management systems, sales data, analytics data-lake.
  • Craft pipelines that process high scale streaming data as well as batch-data to implement data-strategy for ads
  • Be at forefront of driving technology with a positive business impact
  • You will work closely with analytics and product management teams to assess various experiment research before launch, work with machine learning engineers to enable innovative feature's integration, work with software engineers to implement state of art algorithms and work with ads-leadership to identify and assess various business opportunities
  • Design and Optimize Data Systems: Develop, optimize, and maintain data architecture and pipelines using efficient design and programming patterns, adhering to standard methodologies
  • Data Integration and Management: Lead and improve our SSOT tables and data marts critical for daily business decisions
  • Act as a trusted advisor to analytics teams and business partners, product managers, data-scientists and MLEs thereby providing consultation and data-driven insights
  • Mentor and coach peers on data standards, promoting  continuous learning and improvement
  • Innovative Solutions: Evaluation and deployment of innovative tools and processes for data engineering to boost overall  efficiency
  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with leaders, vendors, and data practitioners across Chewy to develop technical architectures for strategic projects and initiatives
  • Document technical detail while following agile methodologies, using tools such as Jira and Confluence

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.

Pay Range

$129,000$207,000 USD
